Started out going for a bit less of a mid-pricey team, more guns and rookies

Only have 1.7k remaining, but happy to drop Houli for a mid-pricer or rookie

Barra13

Backs: Boyd will obviously score well, but how many games will he play? Not a fan of the Houli pick. Think there are better options around him, Laird or Jaensch? The rest look good though.

Mids: Neale was a breakout last year, but can he continue this year? Personally, I don't think so. Other than that it looks pretty good, but no GAJ?

Rucks: Mitch King won't play any AFL games this year. Look to change in the NAB.

Forwards: Possibly a little light on. Maybe look to try and get a Wright/Wells/Daisy in there to beef it up a little.

Overall: There is a lot of value to be had with Essendon, just watch you don't go too hard that it will hurt you in the byes.

Yeah defence is a lot trickier I've found in DT as opposed to SC. Houli I basically put in as I had the cash to turn Harwood into a premium, and he was the most expensive :P
If Jaensch is fit round 1, I'd probably go with him as you've suggested :)

I think Neale can definitely continue this year, and thinking of taking the risk of no Gaz :o
Probably won't have the guts to go through with it once round 1 starts though :P

I figured I'd just loophole the rucks, hence the King selection. Dees play a lot of Sunday games as well.

Agree forwards are light on. Will most likely drop Houli or someone to a rookie or mid-pricer, and upgrade one of my cheaper forwards. If I were to get a mid-pricer, thinking one of Wells, Anderson, or Simpkin. Thoughts?

And regarding the Essendon rookies, with the byes being later this year, I'd imagine I'll have traded most of them by the time the byes come around.

Thanks for the comments! :)

Wells is currently sitting in my team. Although, Anderson is on the watch list also.

Also had a look at Bennedy. Being a Dees supporter, do you think he'll be best 22? And if so, what position do you see him playing? Have always rated him myself, just didn't get enough opportunity at the Pies.

Barra13

He is a tough one. I have done a best 22 team on how I think it will line up and the only place I can see him fitting at the moment is on the bench. If he is named R1, he definitely needs some consideration.

No rolling lockout in this comp other then round 1 and the random rounds with Thursday night games, even then it is just until the Friday. You might as well grab Currie for 128k and stash him on your bench since he will get a game at some point.

Looking at your team I think you have too much cash tied up in your backline. I found it really difficult last year to figure out what was a decent score for a premium defender. I think it was the last position I upgraded from memory. The 5th ranked defender in Bartel averaged 90 where as the jump in rucks between Goldy/Martin to say Mummy is huge. You aren't that far behind if you pick someone like Harwood and he averages 65-70 compared to if you pick Lobbe and he averages 70

I made a mistake in picking up Sandilands to start the year thinking he would be a good option since he gets a lot of hitouts. A hit out regardless of if it goes to advantage or not is 1 point, where Sandi kills it is they go to advantage so in SC he's scoring jumps quite a bit. I think Lobbe is going to fit this kind of role where he might be a decent SC pick because some of the stuff he does gets scaled up but is worth 0 in DT. Looking at Lobbe's best season it was a 89 DT to 100 SC. The other thing is he is a lot more expensive in DT compared to SC.  I think it is probably worth using the cash to go Houli back to Harwood and bring in Goldy.

I like the Sidebottom and Mitchell picks, they are two I am also considering but can't fit them in at the moment. I've also got Robbo so he could be a nice POD considering he can rack up the pill and is a tackling machine.

Hmm, for some reason I thought rdt also had rolling lockout. Currie comes in then :P

Yeah I originally had Harwood at D4, probably better to downgrade Houli back to him and then upgrade Lobbe as you've suggested.

Think Sidey and Mitchell can go huge this year, same with Robbo in the fwd line, hoping at least 1 ends up being a decent pod.

Cheers for the comments Mat :)

What a flowering joke of a team.

Trades this week are Cutler and Dea to Murphy and Daniel.

Ringo

Trades sound GL and I thought I was the only one with Cutler Haha but holding him for a week as he will not lose value.

AaronKirk

Caleb Daniel has been ruled out of Friday night so you may have to re-think that trade GL.
