If O'Meara lines up round one I think you have to pick him. The issue I have with Mills is he's a Swans player, they always manage their rookies, on top of that he'll be playing in defence. As for Parish, excellent prospect but he will be playing in the worst midfield we've seen in many years, can't see him playing the extractor role either. Hopper is another who will be facing stiff competition, given a guy like Coniglio has struggled to break into the side it's hard to see Hopper being a mainstay in his first year.

I realise we've got differing opinions on the midfield rookies this year but just my two cents worth - this is not the year to be fielding 3 rookies, way too risky. I'll be playing Crouch at M7 and will roll the dice on one, hopefully Menegola if he gets the nod. If not then it becomes a raffle, Gresham a chance, possibly Jansen. One things pretty clear, there will be no Cripps this year, of that I'm pretty certain.

True, but if JOM doesn't play round 1 (which he won't IMO) is he a relevant option?

If you have guys like Mills and Hopper in your team atm though, it's a lot easier to swap them for cheaper rookies when round 1 teams are named then to have to upgrade those cheaper guys who don't line up.
