Correct me if i am wrong but Rich has never been the kind of player who racks up disposals, most weeks expect 18-23 possies which unless you are the Bont gonna be hard to push 100. Would figure Beams share will be eaten up by a returning Hanley and rotating Zorko,Robbo more than he is likely to start knocking out 25-30 possies a week. 90-92 ave maybe? an OK pick i guess but Yeo should be a bit better yet and will never be compromised by a tag/run with role.

When was the last time he played as a pure mid though? It's been said he will play 90% midfield and his disposal is class so don't think he would need big 30+ possie games too often

He played midfield the last he hit 90, his tackling numbers will also increase being around the ball more often. Looking back at that season 15 scores were above 80 which is perfect for a defender, at a bare minimum he nails down D6 or becomes a very handy bench option in the midfield. For me it becomes a case of looking at downside and I see very little with Rich now that he can be picked in the back line.
I was a little doubtful early based on last years performances and observations.  However like a women I have changed my mind in the areas of concern I had based on him having a full preseason for the first time in years, his long kicking game appears to be back (was concerned he lost some power with ACL injury). And the coaches statement 90% of time will be spent in mids sends me back to to 2012 where he averaged 90. That will do me. Tags still an issue but with Hanley also breaking out 2 years ago teams if they wish to tag will have a dilema as both have accurate boots.

I think I rate Lonergan over him for value, but he may find his way back in.

Rich has found his way into my backline at D3, looking for someone around his price range to save some cash.

Did a bit of research this morning, and feel like the upside is there. Confidence in the knee, a full preseason, and back in the midfield. I'd take a 90-ish average from him, no difference to guys like Simpson last year.

What about McGovern for a similar price

Just a question, what's the big deal with lonergan, seriously the guy hasn't got the runs on the board, he's had one big nab cup game, rich and Sheridan have more in the bank, ? Am I missing something

McGovern is so tempting but i guess it's the injury risk plus some of his swing man roles could result it shot scores. But he could also be a match winner

Agree, Rich has proven he can hit 85 without too many troubles, 1 extra tackle a game and he's hit keeper status.

Rich is 90k more and lol does Sheridan have more runs on the board?

People are picking him to breakout with more midfield time and after a solid nab showing.

AaronKirk

His career best average is 90.80 and I cannot see him beating that to be a keeper. What has he shown in the NAB challenge to suggest he can improve on that?

Pass.

If he stays fit all year and plays midfield as its been said he will he goes 90+ IMO. I'm rolling the dice on him

With Beams out for a fair bit of the start of the season he will be first tagged (Rocky beats the tags so he won't get) and his previous history of copping the tag is not great. It is a massive risk picking him IMO but good luck.

Wouldn't Hanley cop the tag now that he's back?

Hanley is the other one that cops the tag but I'm not that certain many teams will tag anymore. It's faded out of the game over the past 12 months. He's certainly a risk but he won't lose money so I figure at worst I put up with his 80avg u til I can waste a trade to upgrade him to a premo. Playing 90% mid this year where he belongs will suit him though so I'm confident he will improve

mark44

Tagging will never leave the game, it will be a run with roll which is the exact same thing, negate the impact that the player your  on has on the game, ie, run with rich and negate his impact.

RaisyDaisy

At 440K you're getting exactly what you're paying for

I'd roll the dice if he was under 400k, but he needs to be a keeper at his price and I can't see him being a top 10 def
