Is Bennell from WA ? if he is and is back on home ground I expect he is going to flower up big time at some stage lets face it Harley likes to party don't think even Ross the boss will change that .

If bennell lines up round one and you're a fan of him you pick him round 1... All players have the fitness base to play out the game and a guy like bennell can find the ball at will and use it as good as anyone. All the conditioning they're doing with him now is gonna get him ready to play the whole season unlike the system at the suns which we clearly saw last year wasn't effective.

Reckon he will only average 90-100. Freo have plenty of SC guns, even Walters is training with the mids. I think Harley spends most of his time around mid to fwd, and won't be on the ball as much

I'm not paying 550k for a guy who I think will average 90-100 and has had an interrupted preseason as well as coming into a new side

Fyfe, Mundy, Barlow, Neale, Sandilands etc Freo have plenty of SC guns.

Don't know how people think a guy who has never averaged more than 101 and usually plays 15 games a year is going to come into one of the best sides in the comp and start going 105+.

I'm happy to wait and see on him - not start him

Having lots of good SC scorers already doesn't mean much at all

Completely agree though regarding players being good enough to score no matter who else is in the team. In saying that, see Bennell as an upgrade target.

He might be the second best natural talent on the team. The fact that he is in a situation that is much better footy wise gives me confidence he'll be a better and more reliable supercoach option than in previous years, which was pretty good anyway

At 550k, I'd want to see how he goes for a while first and then look to bring him in if he warrants it. Too much risk and unknown to start him imo

Haha i know right. Sometimes ppl get a bit caught up in the whole "not enough points to go around" theory. At the end of the day scores are still mainly based on stats

I agree with RD here.  Bennell is a wait and see in a new side. In 5 seasons only once has he played all 22 games.

More importantly here are the number of times in SC he has scored more than 105 points:

2015 5/15
2014 4/15
2013 8/15
2012 6/22
2011 1/14

So from 81 games he has scored 105 points or more 24 times or 30% of the time.  So paying $550k for a player I would want a much better return than 30% over 105. Hence the wait and see at a new club with a strong midfield.

Been one of the first picked in my forward line since SC prices came out. But there are many words of wisdom above, so much so that I'll treat him as an upgrade target until he shows what he's made of. Think he will be top 6 forward material but will wait and see now. Thanks guys.      ;)
