What are peoples thoughts on him? Is he too much of a risk with his injury?

TomK

I don't think he is injured, they just said they're managing his workload as they view him as a long term player at the club, plus with his calf issues he had at the Suns, makes some sense to not push him too hard. Still a lock in my side as long as he plays in the NAB.

I'm not convinced

Reckon he will only average 90-100. Freo have plenty of SC guns, even Walters is training with the mids. I think Harley spends most of his time around mid to fwd, and won't be on the ball as much

90 - 100 as a fwd is a little tempting  8)

Yeah I don't understand this? If he averages 100 I want him

auscoyote

I wanted him in my side but from what i can gather he hasn't been out on the track much all summer :-\

super keen on him and saw him as 100-105 fwd.   i am not starting anybody unless they have an uninterrupted pre season so he is on watchlist for upgrade.

His last 4 season averages are 97.55 , 96.53 , 95.73 and 101.67.

If he averages similar to that in 2016 as a mid/forward he is just about a lock given the forward options available aren't exactly great IMO.

He has the ability to be a 110+ average if he puts it all together. Ross the Boss in his ear is no disadvantage either.

Obviously his lack of training this pre-season is a concern and will monitor his progress closely but he is in my side.

Projected by RD to ave 90 to 100. Has left a club that had culture problems which he obviously took advantage of and has moved back to his home state which should make him more comfortable and secure. Obviously had a heart to heart with Ross Lyon before going to Freo and I think we're in for a real treat this season with Harley. I think he's going to have the break out of all break outs and ave 110 UPWARDS. Don't forget we're talking about a guy who scored a 196 in his first AFL season. Just for the stat buffs, has anybody else ever gone near that?? I also think he goes past being a lock to a must have at all costs. I am so convinced of this that he is locked into my team even if he doesn't start to Rd 2 or 3.  Cheers and best of luck guys and gals.     8)

I'm not paying 550k for a guy who I think will average 90-100 and has had an interrupted preseason as well as coming into a new side

Fyfe, Mundy, Barlow, Neale, Sandilands etc Freo have plenty of SC guns.

Don't know how people think a guy who has never averaged more than 101 and usually plays 15 games a year is going to come into one of the best sides in the comp and start going 105+.

I'm happy to wait and see on him - not start him

kilbluff1985

i don't trust Ross

and if Fyfe isnt playing early reckon that wont help Bennell as Fyfe would be good at getting it out to Bennell

sammy123

i don't trust him and i reckon the ross curse may continue with him

_wato

Yep you'd be silly to not wait and see. He's very much risk/reward player, but bearing more risk than reward I'm afraid. Interrupted preseason, injuries, personal issues, as well as coming into a team whom finished top of the ladder so aren't short of SC premiums is a massive hint to say, 'wait and watch'

One thing Harley needs to understand is that this is his last chance before the BoxHill thirds, but I'm sure Ross the Boss has pointed that out to him by now.  He'll come good, it's a matter of survival.
