Interesting concept

The fact that's it's randomised makes it much harder to judge how much a gold/silver etc is worth

Could end up paying 50 gold for Bob

or only 10 gold for a silver BRAD CROUCH!!!!

Can't even make it out onto the park at the moment  :P

Just so the crouch Potatoes dont win every week then people complain we are too good.

120s coming soon.

So, what's to stop us just leaving it at 10G and snagging a bunch of players cheap? I suppose it just allows the top teams that have the cash to just keep getting stronger, so we'll have to bid up to restrict the top teams.

Yep, have to find the balance between improving your own team at the expense of others.

For me though, looking at a defender and ruckman. Think rucks will be bid very very high because that's where an advantage could be massive!!

I wouldn't have thought there would be as much of an advantage in DT though? We have Sinclair who has been pretty great (before being a late withdrawal). I'd rather a gold mid or defender than a gold ruck :P

or the other way round. the top teams have very few holes. If left at 10 gold then the bottom teams can fill their weaknesses while the top teams wont really improve by getting in silver gold players.

the question is lets say nobody bids for the anything does that mean gold players can be bought for 10 gold + 0 gold premium therefore 10 gold for a gold player.

If that happens will essentially ruin the comp I think if people can pick up 10 gold players for 100G

There's some silvers kicking around at the moment that are far better than Gold/Platinum players.
Problem is finding them when chances are you'll get a dud.

Yeh that's it. Some of the golds aren't all that. Look at Malceski ::)

Yeah you guys are pretty much spot on. There is a fine line here, you want a bargain but you also don't want other teams to get a bargain. So you kind of need to pay what you think they're worth, but maybe a little less so you still get value yourself.

This is an easy way for bottom teams to catch the top teams, so I am expecting some bigger bids coming from the stronger teams to stop other teams from catching up.

On the flip side, if the weaker teams do not bid, you'll let the stronger teams who have more money, probably be able to purchase 4 gold cards and the gap will widen. So you also want to put pressure on them to have to make a choice.

I don't know what the right or wrong move is with this, but I do know that someone will have to bid otherwise we will be on a level playing field going into next week!

@Holz, technically you are correct but it won't happen :) Also, you can only end up with 4 golds - one of each position - as a best case scenario!

One thing that still has me confused, how does the silent auction vary from the bidding on this thread?

The reason behind the silent bidding for "gold" rarity is so that people do not know if they will be able to afford "gold" rarity and a player (or two). Also it allows you to try and work together (or against) because no one knows who is bidding for "gold" or not and no one knows how high it'll go. You don't know if you are the highest bidder either!

Correct. But you will still be able to buy "gold" if you can afford it after the silent bidders set the price for it. You just have to hope people are generous, looking at your bank account! (which i will update now)

I see, lovely, thanks for the clarification Spite!  ;D

So is it a gold premium?

So say i bid 40 on a gold ruck.

Is that 40 + the silver bid? So if silver ruck becomes 40 do i pay 80 for a gold ruck?

What hsppens if i no longer can afford a gold ruck

You bid on GOLD only Card separately via PM

Then you bid on Silver Positional Cards here

Once the Gold Card price is known, along with the Silver Positional Prices, you can combine them to get your Gold Ruck
