Anyone believe Sam  Gray could be a good pick in the forward line? Had a great back end to the season, any chance of him pushing triple figures?

GraysFan

He will get opportunity but not enough to warrant selection..

Players such as Gray, Boak, Wines, Polec, Hammer, Ebert will take up majority of the midfield time

Better options around his price.

There was an article written on players changing position and wrote that sam gray would continue his permanent midfield role

That's fine, but he may not get a game in that case

elephants

Yeah I can't hugely warrant selection. You'd have to be pretty certain he'd be getting good midfield minutes to pick him, no good if he's stuck up forward.

Keeper27

if named rnd 1 im defo gonna have a crack with him.

AaronKirk

in his first 4 games of the season he played when Port were basically full strength in the mids (minus Polec) he only averaged 55.75 and none of the scores were sub affected.

His last 6 games were excellent but without clarity about where he will play and how he fits into a full strength Port Adelaide midfield he is not under consideration to be in my side.

Sam Gray finished last year with scores of 102 ,98, 84, 121, 138 &125 averaging 111!!! last 3 games he had 34, 37 & 34 touches.
Boy can play! Is only in 2% of teams at the moment.
Who is keen?

GoLions

Not even a little bit. I have doubts on how much midfield time he'll be getting with Wines back. And at that price range, you have;
- Buddy (currently in my team)
- Lynch (from the Suns, think he could have a massive year)
- Smith (think he'll go well after a poor 2015)

And with guys like Barlow, Dusty, Lids, Joey, Dahl, and all those other guys, I can't really justify a spot for him.

If he was 100k cheaper, I'd consider him.

Keeper27

Very keen.

I guess there is a reason they are called a pod if everyone thought he was a good pick he wouldn't be a POD

PowerBug

Here's the problem with Sam Gray, and some of his scores.

Sam Gray is a midfielder, not a forward. He is a midget so when he got his opportunity for the Power early in the season it was to play the forward role, which obviously produces low scores when he's not scoring goals.

When he played later in the season, it was with Wines and Polec out, giving him a chance to play where he belongs, midfield. He duly racked up we played a crappy Suns side, Freo reserves, a falling GWS all in the back end of the year that helped his cause a lot.

With a full midfield I just don't see him getting the required time there to give good scores consistently.

Hinkley has said on SEN that both Gray and Ah Chee will maintain their roles ..........monitor NAB and see, but with no more vests and bench rotations now reduced, logic says more midfield rotations will be required by all teams.

his up side is as good as hoff buddy his downside is huge.

at 350k i would think about it.

at 480 no way

HotTiges

he doesn't strike me as a SuperCoach pick...no thanks
