Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet (unless I missed it? If so- my bad).

I actually think both ideas have some merit.

Maybe not an automatic finals position for nab, but the option to play 8th to see who gets in?

Both of the suggestions would make, as he said, every game count.

Why? It's called PRESEASON for a reason. It's before the season starts. You make the Preseason competitive suddenly teams will be wanting matches before the pre-season to prepare for the preaseason. Teams currently need to play well for 22 weeks to make finals, tell them they only need to do that for 3 weeks to make finals, whats the point? It's ridiculous.

All whilst the players are crying because the season is too long.

Yeah, what PB said. We don't need to make the NAB cup more relevant. They are pre-season games to get the players ready for the real season.

He says his idea eliminates tanking, yet under his plan after Rd.17 the bottom 6 teams would play off for a wildcard spot in the finals. If you're coming 12th after Rd.16 would you rather win and play off against all the teams above you for a spot in the finals or lose on purpose to playoff against the bottom teams for a gift finals spot.

Definitely needs to go back to the drawing board if a team with only 7 wins could make the finals
