I'm not starting goldy, but if you're going set and forget rucks, goldy has to be one of them doesn't he?

Agreed. However I have seen a surprising number of set and forget combinations without him though. Martin and Gawn, Martin and Nic Nat will be the most popular of these.

I have strayed from my Goldy and Martin combination a few times but I always came back to it and now it is absolutely locked in.

Sauce Jacobs is an interesting one. Never has there been such a high-scoring ruckman as a big POD. Could be big rewards for those who select him.

What's his %?

completely random thought, with Roughead out for the first half of the year and Hale only getting on could McEvoy get back to average 95-105 as he did a few years ago and be a good stepping stone to Goldy?

Hale retired last year.

Ceglar will probably play as well. Maybe McEvoy plays forward more with Roughy out and Ceglar rucks more? I think McEvoy is too much of a risk FWIW.

Mcevoy just doesn't win enough hitouts even when he is the #1 ruck

I was actually keen on BigBoyMcEvoy when the Sainters rested him as a +1 floating deep in defense.  He reads play very well.  He doesn't have the skillset to be an effective forward.

Goldy has convinced me I need to start him.

He didn't do that last year? ;)

I've gone back to the Goldy-Martin combo.

Played around with a few combos, but this one just feels the safest. Not to mention Goldy is a VC option, and I'm hoping for a few weeks where those two score 300 between them

Just dropped Goldy. As much as I don't like that move it frees up heaps of coin and makes my overall team look better. Despite that I'll try find a way to get him in for round 1. He does however have a tough early draw (I know it probably won't affect his output too much) he faces Jacobs, Martin, Gawn and Sandilands in the first four rounds... Possible price drop on the cards?

This is what I'm looking for. I have Martin/Sinclair as my ruck combo atm with a plan to bring Goldy in. Might take me 3 trades though, but I plan on moving Sinclair forward and using him as  F7/ruck cover by the time the year is out.

Who are you bringing in with the cash saved?

My main issue is the money I free up moving him down to Gawn/NicNat doesn't improve my team a great deal. Structure isn't too bad with Goldy in..

I've gone back to it as well - my only concern is the r13 bye when both are out - are you worrying about this at all?

Not really this year. The last few seasons I've picked my starting team with the byes in mind, but so much changes during the season (trades, injuries, etc) that I'll deal with them when they come round!
