This is my first crack at DT for 2016. Thoughts?

TEAM NAME: Peptides FC
DEF: J. McVeigh, K. Simpson, B. Smith, E. Yeo, M. Brown (WCE) M. Brown (Ess) (M. Hartley, A. Morgan)
MID: D. Hannebery, D.Armitage,  T. Rockliff, G. Ablett jnr, T. Liberatore, B. Crouch, D. Parish, J. Trengove, (J. Gresham, C. Petracca, S. Menegola)
RUC: T. Goldstein, S. Mumford (D. Currie)
FWD: D. Martin, M. Barlow, T. Lynch (Adelaide), T. Greene, S. Kerridge, P. Ahern (N. Kommer, S. Yarran)
CASH LEFT: $22,900

Bye structure is 10/12/8

Mr.Craig

I feel like if you're prepared to accept a certain amount of risk in picking Smith and Yeo you might as well do the same with D2 and look at KK or Roberton. Or alternatively spend a little more for Laird or Bartel. I think Simpson's 90+ days are over.

M.Brown (WCE)...he's super cheap and has 100k to put on but given his scoring history he'll put that money on soooo slowly and in the meantime you potentially have someone on your field who has only scored over 60 three times in the last five years.

The rest of the team looks really good. Nice balance despite having set and forget rucks.

The current version of my side which hasn't changed a lot.

The thing which I am toying with the most is D4 and D5

I currently have Brodie Smith and Brown but I have the option of going Smith to Harwood and Kollins to Emac

Any thoughts on this or the overall side?

My starting midfield is almost the exact same as yours. It's my Jack Steven to your Sam Mitchell and I also like Mitchell, he is one I am considering. I can't fault it.

Rucks again are similar, Blitz could be an interesting POD there as well, he will essentially play as a midfielder and with less rotations he should be able to rack up some easy touches with his tank as the game wears on.

Forward line is your Martin and Lynch to my Lids and Robbo, the rest of the starters are the same. I'm not overly sold on Lynch but he is in that cluster of second tier guys. You've got him to break out so back your gut.

Now to the back line, keep your eye on Simmo against the Swans, if he seems to be playing down back for the majority of the game I'd jump off. He generally scores well when he sees he's fair rotation of midfield minutes and so far I haven't seen him venture too far up the ground. However we haven't had him, Docherty, Buckley and Walker all play in the same team yet.

Bartel is a lock, Smith I have in my side as well and I think you might be better off downgrading Birch instead of him to Harwood as it would give you more cash. The only thing is Harwood is probably a 70 at best defender in DT. In his best SC season he averaged 10 less DT points so he is more of a SC player. Emack is a bit similar, but I think looking at it you're better off standing pat for the time being.

This is such a cool old school team, especially in the back line!  :D

Def: Don't like Smith, but can't fault the other top 3 dogs based on history, all under priced if they get back to their best form, but you would think they will decline a bit, Bartel to miss games, a woeful Blues side, and Birchall under a lot more pressure in the back line these days with Lake and Suckers gone.  I've had each of them in my team at some stage, but I think it's a risk having all 3…take a punt on 1-2 and maybe pop in a mid pricer.

Mids: Can't fault the mids, love the Mitchell POD as not many ppl will have the balls to do it.

Rucks: Goldy is gold, not sure on Blicavs, he might not get as much ball with Danger in now and looking likely that Geelong will play Zac Smith alongside Blicavs.

For: Lynch and Conca are interesting POD's that could pay off, I do think Crows will decline a bit from last year.

Solid team overall with some good POD's.

Mr.Craig

I'd keep the faith with Birchall. The information I have is that he'll be playing more mid this year.

You're probably better off with a combination of Dea, Broad, Hibberd or Adams for your back bench.

Mitchell is bound to miss 3-4 games with "general soreness". The most likely games are at Aurora against weak sides. Round 14 vs Gold Coast and Round 17 vs Carlton are particularly dangerous. If you can live with that then ok, but be warned.

I agree with jvalles about Blics, I just think there's too many questions about how Smith will impact his scoring. The obvious set and forget option there would be Jacobs but it's worth having a think about Grundy. Everyone is wetting themselves about Gawn but Brodie started last year with a 98.5 ave from his first six games, was a touch flat in the middle but came back again with a 99.7 ave between Rounds 17-22. Pretty impressive for a 21 year old ruckman who hasn't even played 50 games yet.

I like the Lynch and Conca picks.

Final team below. Scored 2169 in round 1. ranked 741st. No trades this week

nice score and rank.

Just shows how little I know, forgot all about the rolling lockout and captains loophole. Had my team  and capt. set since Thursday kickoff, Lol. Boy, did I dodge a bullet. Only got stuck with Hartley on the bench.

AaronKirk

Scored 2051 in Round 2. Made no trades last week. Moved up from 741st to 63rd in the overall rankings.

Will assess Rocky before making a decision whether to trade. Will be keeping Barlow.

Looking at bringing Papley in. Not sure for who yet as all my rookie players have negative BE's

Mat0369

DT I am finding harder to pick which rookie to dump then SC. Gresham is the one I am looking at for you.

With Rocky I think it is worth dumping him at this point. He had an injury through the NAB and now has another one. There are so many good options including Lewis, Tom Mitchell, Armitage and Lachie Hunter that are worth grabbing.

With a BE of only 64 TMitch with scores of 132 and 143 would be the logical one to bring in. Getting plenty of the ball and playing really well.

Mat0369

He's the one I have at the second but Hunter is tempting as well since I pegged him for a 100+ season

AaronKirk

Rocky to TMitch and Mills to Papley look like the way I'm going.

Mills not scoring enough in AF/DT to justify keeping him compared to my other cheaper rookies and Pap the logical one to bring in.
Doing this by moving Kerridge to M8

jvalles69

Could be wrong, but I reckon Mills prob stays in the team longer than Papley and Hewett though?  I've got Simpkin who isn't getting a game who I can move to Paps, you don't have the same obvious guy to move though so tough call.  If Simpkin plays this week, I'll possibly pass on Papley, think he's a must have in SC, but not necessarily in DT due to limited trades and rookies still with -ve BE's.

Mat0369

I'm not overly thrilled with Mills scoring but he has been pretty good on the field. If I had to pick between Mills and Gresh it would be Mills all the way
