There is one player that I'm very keen to start. I have kept him quite as he is such a big risk.
Zac Williams is a defender and is listed at a very awkward price of around 380k.
In 2015, Zac came into the team in round 6. He played 3 games in the green vest for scores of 8, 26 and 3.
He was then dropped then came back in round 12. He then went at 93, 89, 103, 74, 81, 103, 86, 86, 83.
When you take out his 3 sub scores, his last 9 game average is 89.
I have a theory that if we select a risky player, I like to do it in the backline as I think this is the hardest line to nail all your selections.
His starting price of 380k is awkward but can have an upside. If he fails in the first 3 rounds, it creates a downgrade, upgrade option. There could be a rookie that we have missed and it gives us the chance to downgrade Williams to the rookie, then we have 250k on hand for a upgrade elsewhere. If he gets off to a good start, it's a win/win situation.
It's a huge punt and he is not yet a lock, but I'm pretty keen. Need to see how he goes in the NAB Challenge.

Some nice reasoning there. He did finish the year off well and could be a brilliant pick but he really needs to lock himself into their back 6 Patful, Corr, Davis, Griffen, Haynes, Shaw. Then there's Buntine as well who played well in a number of games before getting a couple of head knocks and giving his spot up. I see him in their best 22 but he is probably still a 19-22 player I reckon and is fighting for his spot with the likes of Hoskin-Elliot, Steele, Josh Kelly, newcomer Hopper, etc depending on how they set up. One bad game and he could be out.
Last year I started with Ibbo at $340k and had him for the whole year. No doubt in my mind he was in their best 22 and no fear of him being dropped.

The only issue I see with Williams the job security. No green vest is a positive as we won't see those sub scores, the other thing is they traded a lot of those other fringe guys out (Hampton, Sumner, Lamb etc.) to go along with Treloar so they aren't there to contend for spots in the 22, even if they play elsewhere, but having said that, was it round 12 that GWS got hit with all those injuries?

Simpson, Ibbo and Pendles seem to not be in a massive amount of sides.

I also am definitely looking at Zac Williams.

Pendles will be in plenty of teams come R1. The closer we get to the season he be in more and more teams I think.
Ibbo was great last year. A little more expensive than his R1 price in 2015 but good enough for a D6 spot at the pointy end probably. Like most I've gone off Simmo....I actually traded him out part way through last season and he didn't really make me pay for it. Solid 90ish average for years but he is getting older... I see him as good, not great and will probably start with others.

Mark Baguely raising any interests? May become a more attacking player off the HB line, Essendon fans?
