Not seeing much love for the little man. Has come off a career best season, prime age and has already declared he wants to become a permanent mid. Anyone got him in their sights? Got him at F2 at the moment. Only thing I'm slightly concerned with is if the Crameri suspension will force him forward a bit more?

Libba

Libba is just the in and under grunt though, Dahlhause is more classy with speed so I don't think that would affect him too much

Liberatore, Macrae, Bontompelli, Wallis are the only guys ahead of him... then there's a cluster Dahlhaus, Hrovat, Hunter, Honeychurch, Daniel and Jong. Hunter, Hrovat, Honeychurch probably have ability to play more forward.

Dahlhaus though isn't the speedy outside ball getter he still had more that 40% of his touches in contested situations as well as 3.7 clearances a game. No doubt he will be a top 10 forward but as far as value is concerned compared to others he doesn't hold as much. Think Libba will impact the amount of CP's he gets and how many clearances as well!

kilbluff1985

my current F1 last 3 years has played 22, 21, 22

no doubt that will change if i start him

At his price I'm just not confident enough to pick Luke Dahlhaus (no e on the end).

I can't see him increasing his average, he might maintain it but I'm expecting him to drop a little with the addition of Libba due to less rotations through the middle.

He was only behind Bont and Wallis in the midfield at the dogs last year.

As a midfield player who has good forward awareness he will be suited to the new interchange rules.

You cannot just discredit what he did in the midfield last year because Libba is back. I expect him to still play around 70% of the time in the mids and improve on his 17 goals from last year by spending more time on the ground as a resting small forward.

He has been in my side from day one and unless he plays a lot more forward time than usual in the NAB challenge he is a lock for me.

This is my thinking as well. Not sure why he wouldn't be playing predominantly midfield again like he did in 2015. He is a gun and came 4th in the dogs b&f only 3 votes behind Bont.

I'd love to start him, but dunno where to fit him in. Atm have Lids, Dusty, Barlow, Buddy. If any of them give me any doubts close to round 1 though, Dahl would likely be their replacement.

Who's discrediting what he did in the midfield last year?

I personally think Libba, Bont, Wallis and Macrae will all play majority midfield which will mean that Dahlhaus won't be in the middle nearly as much as he was last year. He will still hit the scoreboard but I just can't see him averaging as much as he did last year with what I'm expecting to be less midfield minutes.

There's an article on the doggies website saying Wallis will play more forward this year.
Dahl will spend time forward because he's a good goal kicker but he said himself that he wants to keep his midfield role.

This was from an article last month:

With Liberatore on schedule to return in Round 1, Dahlhaus won’t be giving up his spot in the midfield easily, doing extra work over the offseason break to make sure he came back in the best possible shape.

“I’ve gone away in the offseason, obviously had pretty good break, but tried to build on my fitness that I built in the last preseason, so hopefully I’ve come back a bit fitter and better and can spend most of my time in the midfield while hopefully going up forward as well."

We can agree to disagree.

Bont and Wallis (Bont's with his height and Wallis with his physical strength) will very likely play more forward with Crameri out and Dahlhaus' midfield time will remain similar, if not increase.

What other decent tall options do the Bulldogs have to play forward to support Stringer? Boyd, Jones and Redpath all need to improve drastically to play week in week out? Do they play Roughead forward and bring Minno back into the ruck? Do they upgrade Adcock off the rookie list for Crameri and play him as a forward?

The quality options are not exactly jumping out of trees. The best alternative is to keep grooming Boyd in the VFL till he gets his fitness up to AFL standard and play extra mids with mid rotations floating forward to have more run in the middle at the end of games with the new interchange rules.

A 177cm man in Dahlhaus as the 3rd key forward doesn't make as much sense in that scenario as Bont or Wallis playing a more forward role.

I may be wrong but that's how I would assess the where the bulldogs sit.

eaglesman

Stringer Boyd n redpath for mine up forward ...

I'm considering Dahl over lids or Montagna at the moment just to get that little bit of cash that could allow me to get ward to Fyfe

Where's Meow when ya need him to straighten all this out  :P
