Surely they will put restrictions on the number of Essendon players you can pick.  They'll have 8 bargain basement players getting a run each week or thereabouts.  Guns and Rookies strategy this year for sure.

Doubt it, it's like GWS all over again!

True, except heaps of them will be rookie priced!! I think they'll tinker with things a bit.
Yep dont be surprised if the top up players come in at a premium price. For Example Crowley at 300k or so.

Why would they bring them in at a premium? They'd price them at how they perform in SC... When GWS came in we had a team full of guys that we could basically pick up at rookie prices... How many people jumped on James McDonald for 117k or whatever he was (maybe 123, whatever it was rookie price)? I don't see why they would change it now, no-one is advantaged or disadvantaged, we all have the same players to pick from and salary cap to work with, still have to pick the right ones...

If Essendon only get one player experienced like McDonald sure SC will probably keep him cheap but if they decide to get 6 then it will make everyone's teams very similar if they all were dirt cheap and that would be boring but we all just have to wait and see what unfolds  ;)

I'm not sure how many older boys have been out of the game for 2+ years that Essendon will be looking at tho? Most of them will have played AFL within the last 2 years, and those that haven't probably won't get games anyway as Essendon look to get experience into their own kids

So guys that were on a list last year will get priced like any other player from last year

Would be priced like Libba I would expect, and get a discount.

Yeh can't see the Essendon board approving any decision to grab Crowley

Not really interested in any of those guys unless by some miracle they are priced as cheap rookies.

I'm expecting Crowley, Jamar, Dwyer and Simpkin to receive discounts because they all played 0 - 5 games last year.

I don't think Kelly or Stokes will receive discounts because they played too many games last year.

Dwyer averaged 86 (removing his sub-affected games) in 2014 and would be very cheap. He had 3 games around the 70-mark this year as well.
Crowley I have no idea why Essendon would be interested in; surely it couldn't be good for PR? Probably only good for 55-60 anyway based on his scoring history.
Stokes went at about 80 unsubbed this year after 96 and 97 the previous two years.
Jamar I wouldn't touch, can't be good for Berger's scores though if he comes in.
Kelly 85 unsubbed this year and decent scoring history.
Simpkin Would be an excellent pick I think after averaging 88 unsubbed in 2014 (half of his 16 games were green sub) and playing only 1 for 26 in 2015...

So for me, Dwyer and Simpkin look the goods from that lot!

Money Shot

Dwyer and Simpkin are the only two id consider depending on price.

What would be the maximum price you would be prepared to pay for them though?

According to the Age Crowley has now officially become Essendon's first sign-on player. There's a sort of distorted irony in all this, if that makes sense? The first man selected to fill-in for players suspended for drug use is a player who has just served a one-year ban for drug use.  It sounds like the first scene in a new Monty Python movie.
