They can still appeal the CAS decision which I suspect they will do as a 12 month ban means they have little to lose by doing so, despite the saga just dragging on and on and on. However I'm not certain but I think at this stage they have to serve the bans until they successfully appeal... So the players are wiped out for now.

Heppell, Watson and Hibberd would be the 3 most would be potentially looking at, guaranteed they're part of the 12.

Again, most probably. We won't know until the names are released but basically anyone who was at Essendon in 2012 is in trouble. We know Zaha reused to participate and there may have been others we haven't heard of... But 34 is a big number, I wouldn't be surprised if Zaha might have been the only one to say no.

As much as this sucks for the bombers, this will serve as a landmark learning experience for AFL clubs across the board...

Carlisle, Crameri, Monfries, Melksham are the others I'm pretty sure. 17 of the 34 still on AFL lists. 12 still at Essendon.

So much to consider now SC wise.
Lobbe has to be seriously considered now, Zerrett, Bird, Leuy could all be good picks then all the rookies.
Wonder if the top up players with be able to be picked, you would think they will be added in when SC proper opens

Surely they will put restrictions on the number of Essendon players you can pick.  They'll have 8 bargain basement players getting a run each week or thereabouts.  Guns and Rookies strategy this year for sure.

Lobbe a sure pick.
Players like Goddard best avoided.
Mitch Brown a lock.

Keep an eye out for top up Essendon, mature age players.  There'll be gold there for sure.

I'm excited as a supercoacher but as a lifelong Dons supporter, I'm hating this.

Sorry, I'm still in a state of shock.  I can see how this could help Lobbe SC-wise, and some of the rookies, but how exactly will the likes of Zerrett and Luey be better off?  Geez, I feel like giving it away this year and going off to barrack for a Bulgarian bobsled team. (only joking, all you Bulgarians out there) ;)
