Hey all!

I'm going to attempt to build the fixture for this year in the next few days, and I just wanted to spew some ideas out in text and gather your thoughts.

Every two years, ossie has got us to nominate a new rival, so as to keep it current and ensure our rival really has that "rival" feel about them. And I reckon we'll do that again.

Remember, your new rival will be your rival for the next 2 years, and would be the one neutral game you would play in the year.

But... what I reckon would be cool, is to privately PM every coach, and get them to nominate who they see as their main rival; the team that they perhaps feel is on the same level pegging terms as they, or just get particularly annoyed when they lose to them :P. Because in the past, when we have nominated our rivals in a thread, sometimes our main rival has already been allocated to (or nominated by) someone else. This way, we can get a true gauge at who our rivals might be... and most interestingly, whether a team gets nominated more than once :P

I think that would a be fun way to do it personally ^^

Also, this thread is where you can make any fixture requests (doesn't mean you'll get that request granted, though). Like, for example, last year I requested a home game in Round 17... stuff along the lines of that. Or maybe you want to express how much you loved or hated the format of the 2015 fixture, where the last 5 rounds contained the 5 opponents in your "third" you placed in the 2014 ladder. Or maybe you want your games in a pattern, like 3 at home, then 3 away or something...

Discuss! Request! Express!

I request 17 home games please for the Reindeers :).

Kinda ruins Purps idea if you publicly announce your rival.

Curious to know what line of thinking coaches are going with in terms of nominating rivals?

Are you basing it off regions? Eg/ Europe teams rival eachother, American teams rival etc

Or are you looking to rival teams of similar stature in the league currently? Eg teams you expect to be fighting for ladder spots against?

Or a little of column A and a little from column B?

Wouldn't be surprised if a few picked based on who they reckon they can beat easily :P

you dont play them twice though its just no hga. it actually makes more sense to rival a team that your 50/50 against if you know you would have them away from home this year.

my motto is "anytime, anywhere, you will be destroyed" so im not putting tactics into it

I don't really consider region although funny enough, it plays apart in who I consider our rivals for the most part :P.

I usually go for the team/s that there is a bit of back and forth record as well as you enjoy the banter with them. It helps the rivalry when you guess can joke and take jabs at each other's teams and keep it fun :D.

I considered PNL then i thought whats the fun in watching Dublin win easily in the rivalry round, probably should pick a team that has a small chance of winning.
