I have the same placeholder set up as u all

I have merely proposed the possibility of a lack of rookie availability so I am seeking answers. We all have more of an insight into our own team about who the possible inclusions to our best 22 are. I asked about jed Anderson recently and got shot down in flames about his chances.

The Eagles have no rookie options.

You give me yours

So if the Eagles get struck down by injury, as we saw last year, they still have no rookies at all?

I would say at this stage we have no rookie in our best 30 at the moment ... With the exception of Duggan who is around 240k I think so probably wouldn't be one u would pick anyways ... Nevertheless even if a rookie did show up I can't be Confident them posting up 5 early games which would mean they would not generate the cash needed to be successful

Its January 10 FFS

Until we start seeing some of the NAB games we really don't have an idea what rookies are close to selection or not.

Injuries can also play a factor as well once some football is starting to be played.

This year I am not going to make a different side every few days because of commentary about rookie players.

Most years most rookie research gets thrown out the window anyway once rookies are named in sides in round 1.

Until NAB challenge starts there is no point worrying about rookies.

I slapped together my team in 5 mins when SC Gold opened. I won't even log back in and look at it until the nab cup is over and rd1 is around the corner.

I learnt two years ago that anything you do from Dec to early Feb is nothing but a large waste of your time

It's not just about them being in the best 22 though. Teams want to get games into their young guns because they are the future and get better with each AFL game they play. That includes top 8 clubs. There will be plenty of opportunities for the kids during the nab and if they are good enough they will get a crack round 1.

We need replacements for these guys. Some will come from existing players, some will come from rookies

Let's be honest, when injuries and restings start hitting during the season, half of us throw up our hands and declare supercoach in general to be a huge waste of time, we're never coming back etc etc and yet here we are haha  ::)

Step 1 is admitting we have a problem...

If kids/rookies are good enough they will play. Strong teams may not look like they have spots but higher quality kids will force out others, and there is always LTIs.

Look at Sydney and how many kids they play, or Freo giving Alex Pearce a good run, or WCE with Sheed.

With Bird and Jetta gone then someone like Mills will get a run at Sydney

Richmond are looking to a few mature agers to fill gaps (Marcon and Broad)

Essendon and Carlton have new coaches so anything can happen there

The rest will become more apparent come preseason, but we will have rookies. If kids are good enough they will force other out and teams will always have injuries, it's just the way it works.

I will not accept your suggestions of sheed and Pearce. They were not likely or reliable sources of cash generators from round 1.

You suggest Richmond. I suggest Richmond believe they r contenders and have only strengthened their list over trade period. I can't see consistent spot for any rookie.

Blues have kerridge sure ... But Essendon although been through horrid times their list is still strong ... Only parish a chance imo n that's still just a chance but even he isn't going to make quick cash

I started with Sheed as a rookie last year and he did ok. Was scoring well until he broke his thumb for memory... was one of the higher scoring rookies at the time too. Why can't you accept that suggestion?

well Sheed's starting price is much higher this year then last year so he isnt even in the category of guys under 250k

So many Dons will now flood the market at cheap prices, Parish becomes an absolute lock.

When the top up players are announced I would think they will re price the whole Essendon team.
