Teams Name: Dobbo's Legends V16.4

Def: McVeigh, Houli, Bartel, Smith, Brown, Brown (Bonner, Tipungwuti)

McVeigh is a lock but if he doesn't line up Round 1 then I will make some adjustments and get Shaw in. Houli is a bit of a POD - He has a massive ceiling and I believe he can go 95+ again. I haven't seen him in many teams. Bartel without his 5 in Rd 3 last year would have averaged around 100 and Smith showed his potential a couple of seasons back and I hope he can replicate that form.

Mid: Pendlebury, Ablett, Gray, Rockliff, Liberatore, Crouch, Gresham, Freeman (Sumner, Cunningham, Hibberd)

Gray with his easy draw early on can, and I believe he will go 115 this year. The rest is standard. I tried to get a few trading degrees in there with sumner and hibberd but all rookies are placeholders now. Will wait for the NAB cup to start to determine these selections.

Ruck: Goldstein, Martin (King)

Set & Forget. Nothing to see here.

Fwd: Martin, Bennell, Barlow, Bird, Kerridge, Petracca, (Ahern, Kommer)

Martin now that he has been cleared is a lock and so is Barlow with DPP. Bennell I am unsure about and am liking Zorko. I would love your thoughts on who should fill this position and if Lids and Joey are worth their hefty price tag. Bird should play consistent midfield minutes at the dons with their current scenario and he has shown his scoring capabilities when he hasn't been affected by the sub rule.

Cash Remaining: $3,000

I am liking this team quite a lot but it still has a bit of work in my opinion, so as always, all thoughts and opinions are welcome. Cheers fellas.

As crowls said... Houli isnt the most reliable option but there's not really many others. Slightly worried about what Jimmy's rolw will be next year! Selwood + Danger enterin the cats midfield and Henderson making their defence more stable sort of leaves him a forward midfield role which he could easily average 100 or not. He's in and out of my team!
as with every other team defence is the only unstable section of your team! But you have 4 premo's which makes it better for yourself!

solid team!

Thanks for the feedback mate. As I think i said above, I took Houli out for Yeo and made a few other adjustments. Defence screwed me over last year, that's why I'm opting for the stronger side but who knows what this year will bring ai!

fasttrack13

agree mate! ill probably go as weak as the defence lets me...
If 6 200k> guys end up playing ill pick them as long as their spot looks solid!

Final Team before it actually opens!! Can't wait, what would we do with out it? Anyway here it is.

Team Name: Dobbo's Legends V16.5

Def: McVeigh, Bartel, Smith, Malceski, Wagner, Collins (Bonner, Hartley)

Mid: Pendles, Ablett, Rockliff, Wines, Libba, Crouch, Fiorini, Cunningham (Freeman, Morabito, Mathieson)

Ruck: Goldy, Nic Nat (King)

Fwd: Martin, Dahlhaus, Barlow, Franklin, Wells, Kerridge (Petracca, Balic)

Cash Remaining: $13,000

Have gone deep in the forward line with S&F rucks. Malceski I see as a win win - either he goes back to his form of 2014 that made him the most expensive def + will definitely improve as it is his second year, the big guns back and a little less responsibility, or if he flops again he is an easy downgrade to a Harwood/EMAC/ rookie that show promise, or upgrade to the apparent must have defender for 2016 at a nice price. Wines is a jet and have tossed up between him gray and ward. With a lovely run of opponents, a massive tank which will be handy with the interchange caps and at a discounted price (ave 106 w/out injury last year), he looks very enticing.

All thoughts and comments are welcome, as always. Let me know if you would rather the team how it is or to downgrade wells and upgrade mal and/or wines. Cheers fellas.

My problem with the team is that most of your rookies won't play early, so can't raise funds. IMO you need to allow for some more funds for higher ranking rookies

Thanks mate. Rookies are placeholders atm and following nab I will make decisions as to whether I need to downgrade to get more expensive rookies in. Previous years have shown that the cheaper rookies are better in terms of scores, consistency, games and cash earned. Looking for feedback for the structure and the players I highlighted above. Cheers anyway.

Your  team is fantastically well structured. The best I've seen so far. I'm actually trying to figure out how you managed to keep the depth in all your lines with a Goldy - Nic Nat ruck combo?

Until I saw your team I've been of the opinion 1.1 million is the max to spend on set-and-forget ruck approach (choose two of martin, jacobs mumford, nicnat), or you start compromising the other lines. So Goldy plus another premo doesn't fit. But you've managed to protect the other lines with some shrewd premium combinations (eg. ward and wines; and merret and franklin).

I suppose my only question is... what might you gain by downgrading goldy to martin or jacobs, and reinvesting the 100K?

eg 1. upgrade ward and wines to hannebery and sloane (imo players that will be in the top 10 mids)
    2. upgrade merrit and franklin to bennell/barlow and dalhouse
    3. upgrade mackenzie to malceski

But this is all nitpicking. I think you have a rock solid side that will take you far this season. I just can't bring myself to spend over 1.2 million on two rucks.

Good luck!

Cheers mate. Yeah I know I am forking a lot out in the rucks but some of my combos in previous years have led to many trades. I have had sandi, mummy, i tried for a cheaper option with maric last year and didn't work. I have had luey and mcevoy as well. I am playing it safe this year and just hope that there are no injuries. I have contemplated taking goldy out for mummy and the cash would go straight to upgrading zerrett to dahl and perhaps a few of the rookies but I just can't bring myself to do it.

Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it. If I use my trades correctly I feel I can get off to a really good start and get a full premo team before the byes. Cheers again.

Love your team obviously very similar to mine...Ward and Sheil I was deciding between these two with the loss of Treloar both should pump out big scores...Might want to think about Sloane with no Dangerfield Sloane should pump out big scores as well...Forwards are solid Franklin has a question mark with his mental health

Sloane without danger means he will be tagged and when he was tagged last year he under performed. Besides is Crouch Smith and Sloane too many Adelaide players?

Franklin was a standout in their practice match and has been tearing it up apparently. He has been a walk up starter each year and a much higher price. Besides there aren't many forwards i would tip to ave more than him. Dahl with libba back (+100k) Benell with on and off field troubles and injuries (+80k) Zorko with a full brisy mid (+70k) Gunston with Roughy gone (+50k) and Lids and Montagna are too much. Thanks for your comment
