Shane Watson is a very good cricketer. He should certainly still be in our short form sides, and I dare say he's still a much better test cricketer than Mitchell Marsh.

I agree he should definitely be in the t20 team, maybe in the one day team. I don't agree that he is better than Marsh tho. Marsh can bowl without getting injured, something Watson really struggled with. Marsh is at least equal in batting and better at fielding than Watto, so I think that makes Marsh better.

I'd probably play Watto over Marsh at this very point in time, but the reality is you often can't play Watto due to injury.

How on earth is Marshs batting equal too Watson? He hasnt even played one significant innings in test cricket yet.

Marsh is picked purely on potential and against spazs like NZ and WI thats ok.

Watson cops a lot but is a very very good cricketer. Shame his body hasn't held up over his career.

It's hard to play a big innings when the team is 4/843957  and your job is to come in and hit a 6 off every ball before you declare. He hasn't really had the chance to bat in Australia.

Sure he was shower in England, but who wasnt?

Also, ho many significant innings did Watto play? I haven't been following cricket for that long, but I don't really remember that many  :-X

Watto went through a patch where he was our best bat. when he was opener probably 6-7-8 years ago (not sure really) he was piling on the runs. could never ton up though, scoring 80s and 90s I think

then he hit a wall

Capper

he had 3 years 2010-12 where he played really well and won ODI, TEST and T20 player of the year as well as the Allan Border medallist twice.

nrich102

OK. I've been following cricket since about 2011/12 and in that time there was all ways lots of talk about him, but he was all ways injured.

Capper

a mate of mine bought up the fact that he has a great form in India playing T20. Only player to win player of the tournament twice

Ringo

TBH At this stage of his career T20 suits Watson.  Only a short time to bowl and protect from injuries.

Bill Manspeaker

Smiddy won the toss and elected to bat. first time we've batted first!

Warner and Lyno in, Shaun Marsh and Boland out
