Selwood showed he had completely overcome the foot injury that had plagued his preseason as he got through unscathed against Richmond VFL.

Playing a majority of the game on-ball with some small rests in the forward line, Selwood finished with 34 disposals including 19 contested, 11 tackles, nine clearances, six inside 50s and two goals.
flower, that's hard to ignore

Surely everyone has rockliff at m5 though? Rockliff id an absolute lock no questions asked at m5. If you dont have all of thr big 4, then m4 is your super premo breakout slot (ward, shiel etc) thats why even though he might br a good pick..its hard to even fit him in
Your previous post implied that Rocky was M3, and Jelwood would be M4.

I currently have the big 5, but moving a Pendles or Ablett to Jelwood is definitely something I'll consider.

jfitty

Fyfe, Pendles, Ablett, Selwood, Rockliff (maybe Libba) could pay off big time..

Stop tempting me everyone!

Sorry my mistake!!

It throws a bit of a spanner in the works thats for sure

It really is man. We know how good he is, but all passed on him due to his limited preseason and injury, but clearly after tonight's performance he is over it and good to go

It might sound a little knee jerk, but I am looking to get him in my side now. My concerns were only about his preparation and body, and he has given the green light tonight in the biggest way possible. VFL or not, he is clearly fit to play

Gigantor

Exactly, it's the same scenario as Fyfe. No one had him early because of injury concerns. The difference is Jelwood is priced 10+ pts under what he is capable of

plumdog millionaire

Ironically could be what Danger was last year. Super talented guy who bounces back from a down season

_wato

Jelwood + De Goey v Danger + Oliver

Gigantor

Rance out, Adams to defence, Menadue forward, Jelwood in

Due to my structure and DPPs the only change to my starting 22 is Rance>Jelwood, I think I can live with Dea at D3 if Crouch is M8  ;D

Just need the enough cheap rookies to play!

Can you? I reckon those cheap rookies will be putting in scores of 40-50 quite often..Dea at D3 is asking for trouble IMO

Parker to Jelwood for 30k really is a no brainer isn't it?

AaronKirk

He plays Hawthorn in Round 1 whom he has had 2 sub 100 scores in his last 3 games against however in rounds 2 and 3 the Cats play GWS and Brisbane in which his lowest score against either side in the last 3 seasons is 127.

Obviously he is right to go now. He gets Danger into the mids. He gets a decent tap ruckmen to give him the first disposal (remember the cats have not have a good tap ruckman since Ottens and were 18th in clearances in the competition in 2015) and the next wave of the youngsters around him in the mids now have had another season of experience.

If we can forgive his 104.5 average as a down year he did average 110+ from 2009 to 2014. He is nearly as cheap as you probably will be able to get him and now is in my side along with Fyfe, Danger, Ablett and Rocky and is my M5.

The queries remain about Danger and Selwood and the risks of selecting both but it could be a lot riskier if IMO if I don't pick both if the cats win 16-18 H+A games.

I was thinking this too, but Pendles & Swan was a legitimate combo once upon a time

Last year you could have easily had hannebery and JPK who both played 22 games and both scored more points than Fyfe in total

Don't think it's such a bad thing - just need to convince ourselves it's not a negative to have two mids from the same team

Even incorporating Danger into a duo. He played with Sloane last year and Sloane averaged 113 un subbed last yearand he is what you might say a poor mans version of Selwood

The danger effect could be a positive one - he could lift scores around him due to his ability to win contested ball/break away from contests and get the hands off...

The question is..If you have a current midfield of Fyfe, Danger, Pendles, Ablett, Rockliff, Crouch, Mills, Gresh...how the hell do you fit in selwood????
