Joel Selwood him self said he is no certainty for round 1. He is currently out of my team.

Ok that's more than enough doubt for me, he's out!

Now the fun part, picking a replacement!

Go cheaper and get Parker?
Similar price like Sloane, TMitch, or Sidey
Or find the coin and go Jpk or Gray

Yeah he's outta my side. Thinking Sloane as replacement

Does anyone else remember 2014 when these same articles were being released; Selwood under a cloud for the start of the season? Hammy injury in their first pre-season game and doesn't play another? Everyone takes him out of their team.
Rd 1: Selwood 157 SC.
Rd 2: Selwood 140 SC.
Rd 3: Selwood 138 SC.
Rd 4: Selwood 126 SC.

I'm not saying he's a certain starter by any means, but if he's named rd 1, i'll have him in mine.

That's true but I also recall the doubt around Ablett in 2015 and I decided to go with him despite him not playing a nab game and that didn't turn out too well.
I want all of my players to play at least 1 nab game. Too much risk in picking someone blindly

It's a bit different isn't it when he says he has barely run at all so far

I cant see myself starting him. Could be my first upgrade target, but there are plenty of other safer options to start

He has been restricted since December and we are getting up to the start of Feb , not a good preseason he is miles behind and it sounds like it is still giving him trouble , other fit players are more appealing at this stage

If players miss pre season games due to injury generally i'd put a line through them. I am not doing that yet with Joel but i am definitely looking at other options.

Holz

will be all over him as an upgrade.

Ringo

was always my intention to treat as an upgrade due to his fade outs mid season.

Taken him out for Gray, the rest of my mids are pretty set at this point.

Question is - Gray, Hanneberry, Sloane?

Port's early draw is enticing to pick Gray but come seasons end I think Hanners and Sloane could outscore him.

They probably are the 3 I am tossing up as well to come in for Jelwood

Sloane is more enticing also because he doesn't need as many touches to be prolific in SuperCoach compared to gray and hanners!
Gray needed 26 per game to average 110 and Hannebery needed 30+ to get close to 120.
Sloane however only gathered 23.7 in 2014 to average 114.7 SuperCoach points... If he gains 3-4 from being "the go too man" In dangers absence then maths has him at 125 maybe take a few for them being ineffective. Then there's also the case of Adelaide stagnating or going up or down the ladder where loosing more games will impact on sloane's output.
I wouldn't personally consider Hannebery until he drops to less than 550k. Of course unless you can't make the best of the cash you have from going Sloane over the two then you may as well be safe with a gray or hanners!
