Mr Adams

I had Sloane in my team TWICE last year so I followed him closely. He is one of my fav players to watch.

To be honest I don't think the Dangerfield factor had that much to do with it last year.

Obviously the injuries were a big disruption, but I'd love to see a heat map of where he actually played for most of the year, because I am almost certain it wasn't predominantly in the guts. He kept getting dragged forward, and often started centre bounces on the wing.

Did anyone else observe this?

So to me, the issue is whether or not they plan to play him right in the guts with Thompson, Douglas and co. If so, I think he is way underpriced and would be a good selection. Adelaide have a tough draw though - but often it will depend on the quality of the taggers as opposed to the strength of the opposition (i.e. GWS are great at shutting down gun mids).

The tag is the only thing holding me back here. Potential parallels with Mark Murphy..

King Cripps

I still think Sloane is a good pick and believe Adelaide could easily go just as well as they did last year. I am still all over Sloane.

Hi all,

Just wondering if people think Sloane is worth a roll of the dice this year. Clearly with plenty of mids looking set to average 110+ (Gray, Gaz, Fyfe, Danger, Priddis, and probably Parker, Ward and Pendles) spots are at a premium. But as ever one has to take a punt on two or three spots and Sloane is at the centre of my calculations now: no.6 ranked player, strong history including averaging 115 is his last full season and was tearing the house down with four massive tonnes in a row before injury last year, Adelaide looking okay so far, not really taggable and good SD with heaps of tackles/clearances. As well he looks set to bottom out at not far from 500k with a price of 540k and BE of ~145 this week.

It was between him and JPK for first upgrade with both fairly unique this year - might still go both but Sloane is firmly at the centre of my calculations today.

Thoughts?

I have given serious consideration to this move, Sloane is about the only guy in the bargain bin I'm confident in. Fact is he hasn't been horrible, just not raking in the big scores. Would hold off 1 more week considering his BE is 145, might well be an absolute bargain next week even if he tons up.

Give it a few weeks and he probably will drop more in price. Adelaide will win a lot more games than they lose this year and history says Sloane goes big in Adelaide wins.

Sydney and Hawthorn in the next 2 weeks are tough but would be at a perfect price for an upgrade in 3 weeks against an out of sorts Fremantle who Sloane averages 112.3 against in his career against.

mark44

Not sure, wouldn't go near Adelaide midfield players at the moment, even though they are winning they are scoring woowful as a sc relevant team

crows do have a super tough draw. I think there will be better options but if i have just enough to reach 500k i think he wiil be an ok m8. Probably need to see some form change first though as guys like gray priddis hanners arent that much more.

WizzFizz

avged 117 in full games last year unconcussed

If he has a couple more lowish games and goes sub 500k he is very tempting.

From what we have seen of Adelaide in the first 3 weeks I don't agree that their draw after round 7 is difficult. The cats, North and West Coast twice are difficult but should win the rest on current form.

GoLions

Might grab him if he gets cheap enough, could be a great POD and has the scoring history

Got to get in a premo mid this week

got Parker Danger Fyfe Ablett Selwood Libba so only 2 spots left in my team (possibly 3 if i trade libba)

looking at Hannerbery at 610k but Sloane sitting at 540k to give me 70k in the bank is mighty tempting.

it means I can go hartley over ruggles then next week brown to ruggles so thats 120k to play with.

Maybe worth holding a week, Sloane has a BE of 145 and there are other defenders like Byrne & Byrne-Jones who maybe better options than Hartley.

RaisyDaisy

Don't understand how Sloane can even be considered now with an average of 89

Isn't injured, but clearly his role has changed and isn't relied on as much

With that BE, just wait and see how he looks over the next few weeks
