This guy I see as having the potential to make or break my team, he has an incredibly high ceiling (good enough to avg 130) but Danger going will have an impact. The question is will he get more points as he will be the major ball winner now or will he be the guy that opposition players will tag.

TIA for everyones thoughts.

Jet, will still be spoon fed by Sauce and has Crouch coming back with Thompson remaining in the same role, more tackle numbers and contested ball up for grabs, yes he will get attention, and yes he didn't do that great when he received it last year but he was also injured a lot of the year, nursing niggles when he played and so I will not judge him on his last years performance

When he played fit he dominated

Question is though, do I select him even with his very tough draw or go with Robbie Gray?? Port has a very very soft draw early on

As a crows fan I feel he is a big risk to start as he will get the tag in every match. Obviously Danger leaving opens some points to be distributed amongst the other players, but I feel that Crouch coming back will offset Danger leaving points wise.
Sloane is a solid pick and should be a 110+ keeper, but he is really an unknown when tagged so there is some risk in him not really improving from a 105 average.

Myself im happy to wait and see how he goes with a tag especially with the Crows tough fixtures list.

I never really look into fixtures unless choosing a KPF like Buddy.
I look at the taggers more than anything.
THe reasoning for this is a tough draw for Adelaide may mean opposition teams may not even worry about having a hard tag as they wont need to shut down any specific player too win.

Surely Sloane will increase his avg to at least 110?

Jacobs is a very good tap ruckman and Sloane will be the go to man. This will get him points in super coach how ever maybe not as many in DT? :o

Sloane doesn't break packs like Danger did, I don't feel anyone in the Adelaide midfield is good enough to do the role danger played, more so in and under contested ball players, so I expect a lot of the taps to go to ground rather than any specific player.

What made Sloane such a good pick a couple seasons back was hos consistency. I think it was his first score under 90 came in round 10 or whatever it was against Carlton. So barely scoring under 100 and adding in the occasional big score saw him finish with a healthy average.

I think one thing that helped maintain that consistency is the fact he was always the second fiddle and didn't draw heavy attention week in week out and when he did it was the teams secondary tagger if they had one.

While he is underpriced due to the injury games the fact he is now the go to guy to stop would see maybe the consistency drop a little. A new coach as well should see a different gameplan so he might have a role change. I think with so many guys being underpriced I would probably look elsewhere. Rocky, Gaz, Crouch and Libba should be in most mids, mid rookies generally make the most cash so you probably don't want to load up with more then maybe two more premium guys. Pendles is normally one of those, I think Parker seems better value then Sloane but that might just be me.

That's true.

Mat, you are all over Parker. Making me really consider him.

Yeah I reckon we  will see more low scores but also games where he goes insane. I'm hoping that there are more insane scores than there is low scores then we will be cruising.

Kennedy, Titchell. Parker, Hanners, McVeigh all in the mids and all taking points off each other...
I See them all going around 100-105 tbh with no one really standing out.

I agree with this as well. Danger reminds me so much of Judd in what he is able to do on the field. He can win the contested ball and just burst away from packs. They're generational players and one man can't replace them. Crouch comes in for the in and under stuff, but I think it might be a reason why the Crows went after pace in the offseason. They're trying to find someone to give them some of the run that Danger could

I have the same feeling I had with Hanners last year. He started like a house on fire before the concussion, is 3rd or 4th in line for a tag and is fairly cheap considering. I think a 107-114 average is about what I expect with room for growth. I broke down the numbers in another thread but I think it was a 108 average on the back end of the season. It seems good enough for a mid 8.

Sloane and Danger were chalk and cheese

Sloane scores so well from his ability to find the hard ball and lay tackles all day long

The tag is a genuine concern, but danger leaving won't stop him finding the pill

I'm starting him currently

shaker

He is the obvious one to hard tag with danger gone how he handles it i will wait and see not starting him

I think there are too many ifs, buts and maybes surrounding, not only Sloane, but the entire Adelaide team this year:  new coach, new style, new game plan, new roles etc etc.  If Sloan were an Ablett it wouldn't worry me, but he's not and he's really not that good at shaking a hard tag which he can now expect on a week in, week out basis, I'm looking elsewhere.
