Peter

Imo, he is a better chance to play than those two as NM went after him for a reason and they don't have super midfield depth

Grazz

Anderson has a bit of pace which the Roo's want. One of the reasons they went after him I reckon.

See this as North's best 22 so he will definitely play Round 1 in my opinion

B: Michael Firrito, Scott Thompson, Shaun Atley
HB: Lachie Hansen, Robbie Tarrant, Sam Wright
C: Sam Gibson, Jack Ziebell, Nick Dal Santo
HF: Shaun Higgins, Drew Petrie, Jed Anderson
F: Brent Harvey, Jarrad Waite, Lindsay Thomas
FOLL: Todd Goldstein, Andrew Swallow, Ben Cunnington
I/C: Ben Jacobs, Daniel Wells, Jamie MacMillan, Ben Brown
EMERGENCY: Luke McDonald, Robin Nahas, Kayne Turner

Would take him over Kennedy as I'm struggling to see him being named, but I don't know that much hahaha

Peter

Fibba hahaha

I agree, get on him

Garner and Dumont are not far off

He is clearly going to get an opportunity and games, but to think he is a lock for best 22 and will hold is spot all year is naïve IMO

He might be a half decent fantasy prospect, but AFL clubs couldn't care less about that. We see a rookie who has had minimal chances and assume because he is going to a lesser team he all of a sudden becomes a walk up starter?

He would have to CRUSH the NAB for me to pick him

RaisyDaisy

Should also mention that North and everyone else knew that Jed was going to be better than any player they could have landed in this years shallow draft with Pick 15 too, so I don't completely buy into the "they gave up their first pick so he must be in" theory

Don't get me wrong, Anderson has talent and I hope he becomes a great cash cow for us, but I just wouldn't be starting him just yet

kilbluff1985

just remember all it takes is an injury or 2 for the best 22 and it makes his JS pretty good and we all know how common injuries are

Don't forget Mullett as well.

The thing is Jed is a gun, however North are making a long term investment knowing that Wells and Boomer are probably done this year and they have a ready made replacement.

I think I would risk Jed over Wells for a few reasons. First is that although Jed has had his own injuries, he isn't ready to shatter at first contact like Wells. The 2nd is he is slightly cheaper.

ronl

Mat is right, Wells and Boomer will retire at the end of this year, and could be gone sooner if either cop a long term injury this year.
It makes perfect sense that North will be getting as many games into Anderson as soon as they can with their fingers crossed that by season's end he'll be cemented into the side for next year.  Jed, of course, will be keen to prove Hawthorn wrong, and show that he really does have what it takes. I've certainly got him on my list of "possibles" this year.

fasttrack13

Personally think Duggan and Kennedy hold more value at this stage, north have so many players like Anderson "the maybe but maybe not" sorts. You just don't know who'll they'll pick

Footyrulz

Anderson will score no more than 70 given Kangas have Swallow, Ziebell, Cunnington and Jacobs filling the inside mid spots.

I think he's too expensive for someone averaging 70 when you can get a rookie who averages 60 (rookies are also less risky this year with no sub rule).

 :-\

Players such as J Anderson, D Myers, J Lyons, D Wells, C Ellis, B Kennedy, J Trengove and any others around that price range
could become very necessary if this seasons crop of rookies don't measure up. And if they do it's easy to downgrade and have extra cash to spend elsewhere. Having said all that I think there are better priced and credentialed players than Anderson this season.        :)

Mr.Craig

Given he kicked 25 goals in the VFL last year and the Kangaroos' two leading goalkickers have a combined age of 66 I would expect to see him primarily used off half forward. He's never been a particularly big accumulator of the ball nor is he that effective with his disposal, averaging 57% DE last year.

Love that avatar Mr.Craig.  Nothing short of pure genius.    ;D
