Hey guys, I have been reading both the teams and the advice on this forum this preseason, and for quite a few preseasons beforehand.  Sometimes when I read some advice posts on here I can't help but wonder if some folks are deliberately misleading people, or to put it more diplomatically, employing a bit of the ol' smoke & mirrors.  Thoughts?

Not sure what you're referring to exactly because I haven't really looked at a whole lot so far for the upcoming season. I am starting to identify players that interest me heading into the NAB and from there I'll check it out. I don't put a whole heap of substance into the comp for established guys, but you are able to spot a few that do break out or help validate your thoughts on them heading into the season.

Can't say it hasn't happened but I believe the overwhelming majority of people commentating in there are giving honest and genuine opinions.

I am not 100% over all comments made in this thread but in the majority most appear to be genuine in their comments. Some may have team bias in their views, which you would expect but you can then form your own opinions, after doing some research.

I usually read the posts and then do own research if that player interests me. And it would be a very boring forum if we all had the same opinion on all players and had the same cookie cutter teams.

If I was using S&M then I would....oooops hang on...sorry   :-[

The thing about the team advice section is, a lot of people are considering the same players at the same time so the same players get recommended a lot, as new players become the new flavors so they too will be recommended in team thread, just learn to separate the random opinions (like i have) :) from the fact/statistically based theories some people have, some die-hard fans who watch a lot of training sessions ect can be great guides, just watch out for that nasty word bias  ;)

I'd say at least 99.9% were posts trying to get or give help. The 0.1 % would only mislead in a humorous and entertaining manner that would be obvious to all. This is a really great website, reflected by the standard of the people using it. Can't compliment it enough. Cheers.    ;)

just because you don't agree with someones opinion doesn't make them wrong

DCAK,   can understand you POV.
My take is:  If comments help us reconsider our position and either reinforce it by reviewing our rationale/justifications and data or amend it as we identify weaknesses or risks in the positions we put forward then we will all benefit.    Continual comments and feedback will improve the level of understanding of the game, the tactics and even simple things such as grammar and communication.    Be a lonely and non existent game with the forums!

As far as being misled by other peoples feedback; that comes down to doing your own research and is what we all need to be doing anyway.
