Cannon was in the doghouse because of the off field. He looks in ripping shape and they don't exactly have a better option for a 3rd tall. His scoring dips in the role which is the only worry.

What are everyone's expectations for Laird this year? Can he improve on his average?

Really considering him instead of Bartel, but the extra 30k helps to afford some of the more expensive rookies..

I think Laird will average around the 100 mark and be in the top 5 defenders.

I looked at his stats from last season, he was incredibly consistent.

Only 4 scores under 70, 2 of which where he was injured/concussed, and one 78.. The rest 80+

Just whether he's worth picking over Jimmy!

I would try to fit both in if you can.

At this stage I'm rolling with Shaw, Boyd, Bartel/Laird, Weits, Dea, rookies, so really can only pick one.

Happy with this structure and the first 2 guys, just need to decide on the third!

My preference would be Shaw, Laird and Bartel then you can splash the cash saved from not going with Boyd. If you're set on Boyd though then trust your gut.

I had decided to pass on all the mid price options, but I've just spent a bit of time looking over the NAB data

Seedsman averaged 85 scoring 109 per 100 mins
Harwood averaged 74 scoring 108 per 100 mins
Cutler averaged 92 scoring 92 per 100 mins
Sheridan averaged 93 scoring 106 per 100 mins
Sutcliffe averaged 92 scoring 103 per 100 mins
Lonergan averaged 95 scoring 179 per 100 mins
McKenzie averaged 122 scoring 154 per 100 mins
Bugg averaged 84 scoring 101 per 100 mins

Starting 1, even 2 of these saves cash, but picking the right ones would be the challenge

Something for me to think about

Don't go there, Daisy. It's a rabbit trail you won't find your way back from. Shaw + 2 premiums + Weitering + 8 Rookies is the way to go. Your instinct on this has been correct the entire pre-season. Finding this year's Laird is like finding a needle in a haystack. Go conservative in Defence; be aggressive on the other lines.

Thoughts on Suckling at the Dogs. For some reason i keep on looking at him, has scored 90 many years ago, any inside word on how the Dogs will use him, HF/Winger?

Can see him drifting HB, Wing, HF, but I'm not sure he'll be a permanent fixture in the team TBH
