Really starting to warm to the idea of starting T McKenzie at D3

Yes his nab match was good but I didn't realise he is only 300k which is super cheap. Saving 200k over starting a prem is a massive difference

I feel like Sheridan and Lonergan need to turn into keepers at their prices, but at only 300K if he doesn't push 85+ it's fine using a trade to upgrade

I'll be curious to see what role he plays when KK and Eski are back, which is hopefully this weekend

The problem with McKenzie is that these days he is fringe best 22. One quiet game could see him get sent back to the NEAFL.

Also, with KK and Malceski back I wouldn't be expecting him to score very well at all and if you do end up needing to trade him out he will probably make less than 100k which is a pointless exercise.

i like it too, but i'd have him @ D4 as i already have lonergan & sheridan

i see both them guys going 85 or there abouts and that is enough for D4-D6 and you can use the money you save and put it in other lines.

If my memory serves me correctly both were in our best 22 by the end of last year, Ruggles Killed it in the vfl and deserves his shot

Thurlow was pretty regular because Kelly was out injured. No Kelly which means he would have been firmly entrenched in the 22. With Rivers out and Hendo in it seems like an automatic swap, I don't think Jake Kolo played with River, Taylor and Lonergan in the same team, so I am assuming he would be contending for a spot as a tall defender. Enright, Mackie and someone else would play as the rebounding defenders.

Ruggles took out the VFL Cats Best and Fairest in 2015 and is a mature age(23) mature body ready to go player. As previously stated JK is going to be a tall KP back and isn't the rebounding type I don't think. Some suggestion Bartel will spend more time back there and possibly even Guthrie could go back there as he started his first few seasons with geelong at Half Back.

Its all a matter of opinion here.
To me 85 is best case scenario for both Lonergan and Sheridan, I feel it is more likely to be a 75-80 mark which wouldn't be good enough for a D5 or D6 + they wouldn't make enough $ to make it worth the trade.

People love looking for and picking the mid price option in the hope they will become a premium as everyone likes a bargain, but realistically they are more likely to cost you in the end than they are to give you an advantage over other people.

If McKenzie does play, I have him fringe 22, then he has to focus on defending his man first and foremost and then think about rebounding, he has always been shaky as a defender but has been able to get away with it prior to last year due to his boot. Will be curious to see if he has developed more of a midfield game - have always thought he could play similarly to Hartlett if he upped his endurance base and flexibility.

Currently have Sheridan and Lonergan in D3/D4

Now... call me crazy... but I'm thinking this defensive line-up might not be as crazy as it first appears.

Am I crazy?

A Rance, J Bartel, G Birchall, B Smith, R Harwood, J Aish (M Brown- ESS, M Hartley)

I'd be comfortable starting M Brown on the field, but I just don't trust any other DEF rookies to slot into D8.

With Lonergan AND Aish, is this too much money in DEF??? I think they both represent good value with 85 potential and Aish can be moved to mids and/or upgraded to bring in a DEF 'premium'.

Thoughts?

Wait to see his role first but I see the allure, could be a bargain.

It's risky, but I'm thinking of going: Shaw, Sheridan, Lonergan, McKenzie/Harwood, rook, rook, which allows me a midfield of: Fyfe, Danger, Pendles, GAJ, Rocky and Libba.
I figure I more than make up for any point deficit in defence and some may end up having breakout seasons and become keepers.
Thoughts?

going similar.
had shaw but have Houli right now, Houli, Sheridan, Lonergan, Bugg, Harwood, Rookie (Rookie/Rookie)
i have to start with that super strong mids (Fyfe/Danger/Pendles/GAJ/Rocky)

Would defy history if true. Only 3 players (of hundreds) from the 250-350k price bracket have gone at 85+ in the past 3 years. Jaensch (2014), Henderson (2013) and Roberton (2015) - so 1 per year.
Over the 3 years, 6 others went 80+ though, so roughly 3 per year 'break out' (or return to) 80+ scores.

Does he come into contention if he looks good this weekend?

If rebounding then possibly, not if he's a forward.

If he's playing backline he's in my team, absolutely.

He's just been added back into the leadership group too...
