Was wondering the same thing AK - why do people think Hartley can't score? He did score 100 on the weekend...

I think 4 rookies is what I'll be doing down back. D3 and D4 I'm still undecided on - 1 prem 1 mid pricer, 2 mid pricers, 1 and Emack or WhiteX etc but I think brown and Hartley plus 2 bench rookies is the way to go for now

Hartley scored 100 against Carlton seconds, it would be very presumptuous to expect that in the season proper. All you have to do is look at the likes of McKenzie & Talia, both AA fullbacks but players who have struggled to score well in SC. Hartley is a good rookie for the bench, he will make 150-200k which is all you can ask. I'm not sold on Weitering as a viable option either, he's great for JS but still not sold on his ability to match the midfield rookies.
6 man premo defence?

I'm after running backs, Collins, Hartley & M.Brown from the Eagles are not ideal, would rather play an extra forward rookie like Menadue or Milera. At the moment I'm running with 4 premos + MBrown of Essendon, would love for Tucker to get a gig or possibly Byrne-Jones, both who are exceptional athletes with good disposal.

if you are going for Prems and rooks then you would be looking at Weitering. He is currently out of my team but has great JS but maybe crack a 60 each week

Would prefer Whitecross but he has to get named first, I think Weitering will play out the season and is a reasonable back-up plan.

There's a big difference between a rookie who could line up round 1 and a rookie that's in the best 22.  Hartley and Brown are the only sure fire things.  There will be others that line up but with rather dodgy JS.

There are so many quality forward rookies now it makes sense to just go down that path.

Some of the best mid price picks usually are, I think he'll be worth it plus can't see a better option around that price range

So are you going in with 2 premos up forward? Only 1 even?

If not where do you get this money to have a 5 premo mid with libba/crouch M6, 2 keepers in the ruck, 4 keepers in defense and 3-4 keepers up forward of quality?

You have to cut your investments somewhere? Defense is the place which scores the least and hence why I have spent the least amount there.

AK, Weitering and Hartley will not score similiar at all. First thing, Weitering is a much better player than Hartley. Not many KPD's (yes defender) goes at number one in a draft and the kid is a monster, definitely ready to play around 1. He will play on the third tall in Carlton's defence which means he can zone off and take all the intercept marks he pleases while Rowe and Jamison take number 1 and 2. Hartley? Who would know. Potentially taking the number one or two forward or potentially not playing at all. I don't really know.

But I would rather pay $220k for a man who is sure to play Round 1 and already has great JS considering he went to Carlton, and the man will play in a role similiar to a Josh Gibson where he may have a little freedom. I can see him easily going 70 which imo will match most midfielders. Hartley lucky to go 60 I think.

Anyway, I have both so if Hartley surprises all I don't really lose either way. Have two good rookies up my sleeve in a year where the defence looks shaky.

We will see what happens.

I don't want to cut a midfield or forward premo to bring in Weitering or another mid pricer into defense. If it comes to I will have to and deal with it from then.

Yeah 2 prem forward and wells mid priced  ... Kerridge lock ... Then there are loads of rookie options

It sucks that there are no back rookies ...

All I am saying is be prepared.

No one has a settled stucture yet due to the defensive rookie situation. And anyone that thinks they have is bloody kidding themselves

I've been looking at Seedsman at $324k

Following Jaensch's retirement, he could step up into that role off half back.

RaisyDaisy

I've been keen on Emack for most of the preseason, and i think I have absolutely 100% convinced myself that he is a lock in my side, especially with so much uncertainty around the rookies

In his last full season 2014 he didn't miss a game, however WCE were nowhere near as good as they are now

11 wins and 11 losses

Of those 11 wins he averaged 82. I think he can average anywhere from 70-80, possibly low 80's. Either way his JS is rock solid and he should make 200k

Just need to figure out whether i play him at D4 or D5
