dont think they will loose value?? and give off the occasional 100+ score in which anything will get me to a nice upgrade target :)

Weitering was very impressive, but I don't think that price fits in for me.
Currently have Houli, Simpson, Birchall, Suckling(could be B.Smith), Brown(Ess), Hartley. Broad, Collins.
Think that price structure, with 3 premos, a cheaper possible keeper and rookies works.

Does it work when broad or any other rookie(outside of brown Hartley Collins) doesn't line up round 1?

I don't think he will but he is prob just behind Kieran Collins as the 4th rookie option to this point imo

My current line up down back is Simpson, Bartel, Birchall, EMack, Brown (ess), Hartley (Broad, Collins)

I am quite happy to leave it as is for now.

Will have to wait for Rd1. Think there will be enough to fill the bench. If not, Weitering will be a backup. I currently have expensive Mid rookies in Mills, Oliver and Parish, so one of them would have to go.

Players that have come up on this thread recently:

Weitering - his intercept marking was great today. Could slot in at D5, but you'd really need him to play a lot early without a break which for a big guy in his first season will be a fair ask.

Sheridan - looks impressive. Is he in Freo's back 6?

Johnson - can score as well as any most defence premiums, but durability concerns and will he have to play more defensively with no McPharlin?

Brown and Hartley - my first 2 picked rookies and that's not changing. Brown's scoring ability looks better than expected, should rack up a lot of cheap kicks and is probably the best option at D6 (or F6).

Tippa - TIPPAAAAAAAAA! Will probably take a little while to get going at AFL level and is probably in and out of the team, but not a bad option at D8/F8 if you wanna swap with Brown/basement price etc.

Does anyone like the look of Boyd's run early,
I know he is likely to get rested, but hopefully I will have some coverage by then, and he will have scored enough points to be worth the investment

Boyd scores about the same at Etihad as away from it. He's worth paying for since everyone else is stacking their midfields and they will struggle down back. The points Boyd gains over spud defender picks that don't work out (there will be some) will more than make up for the loss of points in the midfield.

As for Weitering he won't have to play at FB or CHB with Rowe and Jamison holding down those spots. Will most likely be playing on players smaller than himself so the intercept marks should be a regular thing.

I was hoping i could get away with 5 rookies down back, but I am now starting to think that i need 4 best 22 players with Brown and Hartley at D5/6 and then two of Bonner/Broad/Collins/Adams/Tucker/Wagner etc whichever get named rd1

Seriously thinking about going with something like Simmo (Or other premo) Bartel, 300-400k defender then EMack type at D4

I have basically had that line up for a while but I'm fairly strapped for cash so I was considering EMac to a rookie. I have had Bartel, Smith, Harwood, Mackenzie, Brown, Hartley, rookie, rookie. If Crouch isn't named for the next Crows game I am dumping him, I might either use the cash for a back or I might look at one of Polec, Graham, Matt Crouch or Hartung if I don't look at rookies.

You won't regret it, he's been fantastic across both NAB games.
Would not be surprised if he averages triple figures this year.

He's looking like a really good mid price POD, the only downside is I wish he was 50k cheaper. At his price he has to almost be a keeper but I'm a big fan. He has been absolutely dominant at VFL level and was awesome when he came in last year.

Must admit Weitering sunck in there after today's NAB but happy to wait and see who's named in Round 1
