First crack of the season. Gone for a few POD's. No ruck coverage but went ok without it last year. The aim is to turn Leuenberger into Goldy once Leuey has gone up a bit in price and Goldy has gone down in price after a few tough games against quality rucks early next year.

DEF: McVeigh (MID), K Kolodjashnij, Bartel (MID), Yeo (MID), B Smith (MID), M Brown (FWD) (M Hibberd (MID), Bonner)
MID: Ablett, Sloane, J Selwood, Rockliff, Liberatore, B Crouch, Petracca (FWD), Freeman (Morabito, Mathieson, Cole (DEF))
RUC: Naitanui, Leuenberger (FWD) (King (FWD))
FWD: D Martin (FWD), Barlow (MID), Z Merrett (MID), Greene (MID), Bird (MID), Kerridge (MID) (Sumner (MID), Adams (DEF))

Let me know what you think!

Cheers.

DEFENCE: Runs very deep, not a hug fan of KK... dont believe hes going to be a top 10 defender! I think rich holds more value with the Brisbane midfield returning!

MIDFIELD: Quality all round not much to say...

RUCKS: I like these rucks to a certain extent, however if your going to get goldy i'd recommend trading a rookie to him as your first upgrade and swinging Leuenberger into the forward line and have him at F6 until youve finished upgrading and he can slot into f7

FORWARDS: Love love love! Merrett is a gun, barlow freak, greene should be a jet too!

a question for you: What do you expect merrett and greene to average respectively?
I have merrett 94-100 and Greene 90-106 greene having a higher ceiling but also that area of uncertainty on where exactly he fits into the giants team!

good start here mate, only knock is how cheap all of your rookies are, id like to see some top end place holders then trade out of them if cheapies come a long!

RaisyDaisy

Nice looking team Ben - I know you love having dpp everywhere :)

Agree with fasttrack that Kolodjashnij is probably a little risky to start. He scored well this year but I wouldn't expect him to maintain that when all their mids return

I don't think Merrett has enough upside to justify his price tag either. He needs to be a keeper at that price and I don't think he's cheap enough for it to pay off

Keep an eye on Yeo during the nab too, because with McKenzie, Brown and jetta in the side I'm not entirely sure were he'll play, and he could be moved around each week which could be the quite the rollercoaster in terms of his SC output

Would love your thoughts on my side

Southstorm

Z. Merrett, if he's playing well, might be best to be upgraded to later in the year. I'm not entirely sure how he'll play in an Essendon team with a midfield at full strength (unlike last year).

With your mids, consider swinging Petracca down forward. I think the difference between Petracca and the next highest scoring forward rookie will be a lot bigger than the difference between Petracca and the next highest scoring mid rookie, if you get my beef. Some good options in the midfield this year.

Love this team.
KK is a risk but could pay off
Merret ... Is he really a top 10 forward? I don't think so but I see Alot of teams with him. Greene i like however I'm not starting with him.
Freeman may not be ready for round one but obviously just a place holder like all rookies at this stage.
Bird I'm not sure on but at 300k he is a justified risk!

Would love your thoughts on my team!

I haven't gone crazy with preseason SuperCoach.

But is that Toby Greene up forward? Gee how much? I'll have a bit of that.

He's about 450k from memory!

Thanks for all the advice guys, greatly appreciated.

I've created a team which has Goldy in it so would like to hear your opinions as to whether my team looks better in my opening post or this one:

DEF: McVeigh (MID), Bartel (MID), Yeo (MID), Rich (MID), B Smith (MID), M Brown (FWD) (M Hibberd (MID), Bonner)

MID: Ablett, Sloane, J Selwood, Rockliff, Liberatore, Petracca (FWD), Freeman, Morabito (Payne (FWD), Mathieson, Cole (DEF))

RUC: Goldstein, Naitanui (King (FWD))

FWD: D Martin (FWD), Barlow (MID), Greene (MID), Bird (MID), Leuenberger (RUC), Kerridge (MID) (Sumner (MID), Adams (DEF))

Which team is better and why?

Cheers guys.

I like this team more. Not a fan of Bird though and would make him Petrecca and bring Crouch into the mids.
Although I know you like your DPP links so I see where you're coming from.

Good luck mate.

Team 2... However

Go bird to crouch via Payne IMO.

Rich over KK is a good choice! Goldstein there with ruck cover makes it perfect!
One of the best teams I've seen Ben!

Ringo

Nice team ben and obviously Team 2 is better with a set and forget rucks and a back up.

Couple of players to watch preseason - McVeigh who has just come off crutches, Morabito if he is fit.  Obviously rookies and low priced will change.

With Jelwood you have to be prepared for the roller coaster when he drops in his scoring.  How many of us got caught by trading him out when he scored *bleep* only to have to get him back in.  Have looked at his stats over the last few years and the pattern is though starts ok has a few shockers and comes home strong. So the decision with Jelwood is whether to start as a keeper and not trade or target as an upgrade when his shockers out the way.

Agree with the comments on Bird to Crouch.  With Danger leaving Crouch at that price is a virtual lock.

Great looking team.    Team 2 improves over 1st team.

Big fan of KK but with mids returning and less time up ground questions arise.  Rich is preferred option.
Sloane over Selwood due to his poor 1st half of the season.
Dont see Martin starting so Montagna or Bennell.    For that matter Bennell has more upside and less downside than Barlow.

Crouch likely to be a 105-115 player so difficult to leave him out at his price.
Cheers.    Appreciate your thoughts on my team.

Latest update

DEF: McVeigh (MID), K Kolodjashnij, Bartel (MID), Yeo (MID), B Smith (MID), M Brown (FWD) (Broad, Bonner)

MID: Pendlebury, Ablett, Rockliff, Wines, Liberatore, B Crouch, Petracca (FWD), Kerridge (MID), Morabito (Freeman, Keays, Hibberd (DEF))

RUC: Goldstein, S Martin (King (FWD))

FWD: D Martin (FWD), Barlow (MID), Bird (MID), Leuenberger (RUC), Petracca (MID), Adams (DEF) (Yarran, Payne (MID))

Just a few subtle changes which I think have strengthened my team

OUT: Rich, Sloane, J Selwood, Greene, Naitanui
IN: K Kolodjashnij, Pendlebury, Wines, Crouch, S Martin

The Bombers have said that Bird will be playing through the midfield and off half back this year so I think he will average enough to be a keeper. He is a ball magnet when unleashed.

The rest of the picks speak for themselves.

Rookies are all placeholders for now so please don't comment on them.

Thoughts?

Ringo

Really like this team Ben.  Nice PODs with Wines and Bird.

Just watch McVeigh and Petracca preseason to ensure completely over injuries. Plenty of options though if not.
