At the midway point of the season...

Pendlebury
Dangerfield
Ablett
Hannebery
Neale
Selwood
Rockliff
Ward
Kennedy
Priddis

Don't know how you could put Rockliff in there , is it because of one monster game ?

It is mainly what I expect from now on.

Yeah sorry I wasn't too clear :) Thought these threads might be helpful if people are looking for opinions on the best in each position.

Grufflez

Bontempelli will be a top 8 mid from here on out.

Every single other name looks like it belongs there.  I know he's a quality player (he matches it if not is better defensively)... is he actually just super underrated?

Like, super dooper underrated?

Agree. I think he Sheil and Sloane. Are the three that could average 110-120 easily on the run home.
On the bont - is it just me or is he the best young player since Judd? He's a leader, outside and inside game is elite, is only 20 and watching the Bulldogs games I think he's only going to get better and what we're seeing right now is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of his ability.. Remember, he barely had a preseason so is only just warming up into his bet form the past 4-5 weeks... Scary

A guy names Selwood was really good as a young player.

If it was not for his awkward R13 bye, I would be all over him this week.
People don't rate him because he has tagged in the past, now he is playing shut-down roles, keeping blokes quiet, and finding the ball himself 25+ times every week. Gun.

Yeah, 104.7 average but no one seems to have him. He scored a 141 last week which many people left unnoticed.

Parker? Hopefully he can lift from now & until the end of the year. Also Gray!

I didn't jump on Parker early on because JPK wasn't going great, and I figured he'd start scoring well eventually. Haven't looked into the stats, but I feel like they've basically done a bit of a switcheroo and now JPK is scoring great and Parker has dropped off. Apart from Hanners, I'm not touching any Swans mids this year.

Great observation. I jumped on Parker in Rd 3 when Rocky went down and haven't been completely convinced with his scoring. In saying that he has a very high ceiling so he only needs a 140 game to knock that average back up..

As for my top 10 mids (average) for the rest of the year, I am going a little outside the box..

Neale - 130
Bontempelli - 120
Dangerfield - 120
Sheil - 120
Selwood - 115
Ablett - 115
Pendlebury - 115
Treloar - 115
JPK - 115
Sidebottom- 115

Reasoning -
I love L.Neale - racks up plenty of ball, is starting to use it and only needs to add a goal or two to his games to go real big. He's my Rocky of 2014
The bont is one if my favorite players to watch and is fast becoming untaggable. Coming of an interted preseason he is only warming up. Until this year he had never hit 30+ possessions in a game, he has had over 30 in 4 of his last 5 games.
Danger is danger
Sheil is consistent and has a good run coming up
Selwood loves smashing out big scores in the back half of the year and they have a soft run after the bye
Ablett is a star
Pendles will continue being Pendles and racking up the touches
Trelaor is an interesting one, has only dropped under 100 twice and inky gone big once. I expect with him coming off an interrupted preseason, finishing big
JPK - like selwood - loves the back end of the year
Sidey is another who can rack up some serious junk in wins or losses. My theory with the collingwood midfield is their team is so poor that teams won't bother tagging and they'll all score well from here

Let's see in 3 months time ey!

King_Robbo

^^
One month in and a lot of these predictions are seeming about spot on.
Sidey is the who stands out, has been tagged a bit recently and has been bloody poor.
Loving the bont call. He's the new Pendles + contested marking ability

So after the byes, this is what we're looking at.

Top 10 Total Score:
Danger
Pendles
Hanners
Neale
Jelwood
Parker
Sloane
Ward
Ablett (even with 1 less game)
Treloar

Top 10 Average:
Danger
Pendles
Ablett
Hanners
Neale
Jelwood
Parker
Coniglio
Sloane
Ward

Top 10 5 Round Average:
Danger
Ablett
Pendles
Jelwood
Sloane
Curnow
Lewis
Rocky
JPK
Bont

I think Coniglio and Curnow have been the two big surprises, particularly Curnow, who is 11th on total points as well along with being 14th on average for pure mids. Apart from that, everything else seems pretty reasonable. Noticeable drops were Armitage, Mundy, and to a lesser extent Gray. Rocky got injured twice, would be top 5 on average without injury games (3rd I believe, just above Ablett).

So, what can we take from this? Probably that if you don't have Danger, Pendles, Hanners, Ablett, Jelwood and Neale, you could be in trouble. Also Rocky is goat.

Not much to say here really. Danger, Pendles, Hanners, JPK, Neale, Parker, Jelwood, Treloar feature in both lists with others to space in the gaps. Many of those featured this year also featured last year with the ultra guns (Pendles, Danger, Jelwood) etc carrying on their form of the last few years. To the surprise of many though, Bont and Gibbs made the top 10 in front of popular picks Ward, Priddis, Sloane. Ablett features very high in the avg ppg list, and most likely would've snagged a top 3 total finish had he played out the year. Rocky proving when he gets on the park he's a jet, with a 10th finish including two injury games.
Pretty standard to say, If you didn't have 3 or more of those 7/8 players who featured on both lists, you probably didn't do very well this year.
