Hi all

With SC gold open I've thrown together a team, bit of midprice mayhem going on but I've not done much rookie research yet

McVeigh, Bartel, B.Smith, Jaensch, Harwood, Weitering (Francis, Brown)
GAJ, Jelwood, Rocky, Libba, Crouch, Mills, Oliver, Parish (McCaffer, Hopper, Gresham)
Goldy, Smartin (Wyatt)
Barlow, Franklin, Heeney, Berger, Schache, Bennedy (Petracca, Kommer)

80k remaining.

Mainly just throwing some names on paper, rookies I've deliberately filled with high draft picks/expensive fallen players just to the money is locked away (ie those positions should hopefully only get cheaper). Ideally throw a few 123k rooks up and bring Lids into the fwds.

Gigantor

I would be wary of Wyatt at R3

Pies have a bad start to the year for loop holing

I'm looking at Max King, only 15k more but  Melbourne have a much nicer draw loop hole wise

Ringo

Nice team GCS.  Hope the Franklin punt works ok. Heeney is an interesting selection.

Also need to check om Jaensch - He did is ACL in May so may not be up and running for early rounds so an ideal target later on. Trying to find where I read it but remember something like Rd 7,

Agree with gigantor on R3 as if using GAJ loophole Pies have a lot of early games.  Using King myself who has 11 Sunday games.

#3
Post-Essenban team:

Not sure why DanHan is stuck on the bench but I like him as a POD from teams I've seen so far. Same story with rookies I'm mostly using expensive players so if anything they should get cheaper. King will go to R3. If lots of cheaper rookies pop up then I'll try to slot in an extra fwd but we'll see.

Ringo

SC does some silly things with benches and hard to fathom?

See you plan to put King to R3 which was my initial concern with Pies having a number of Friday night games.

Nice team all up - First team I have seen with Weitering in as well. Just personal but concerned with Lids and his injuries whether he will play full season.

Also just wondering whether you plan on bringing in DPP Rookies given the number of M/D and M/F players you have.  Could save some trades down the track.

Yeah rookies are in no way set, and ideally I would like to bring in some DPP rooks to take advantage. Ideally a D/M and M/F on the mid bench would be great, but see who lines up first.

Forward prems I actually really struggle with. If Dustbin gets an official all-clear then I think I would probably swap Lids for him, but he's still a bit of a loose cannon. Dahlhaus maybe but will the return of Libba affect him positively or negatively (or not at all)? Bennell I think is a wait and see prospect but has a bit of upside. I guess in looking at the top 10 priced forwards Lids is still probably the one I'm most confident in, though yes missing games is a concern.

I like hannebery a lot... His only problem is that he will have to average 30 touches to get 110-115 points with the way he racks up cheap ball and there are guys like gray, beams, selwood etc... who only need mid 20's to do the same and all 3 a more than capable of racking up 30 a game and pushing into the 120's. Basically if he doesn't rack up his 30 touches his average will drop.

he's a great pick nonetheless

Ringo

Yep forwards I think will be a lottery mate.  Having the same problem as well. Barlow is one I am keeping an eye on as well.  Also Franklin is reasonably priced if he gets himself in order.
Prem Forwrad issues as I see them:
Lids - Injury
Montagna - Will be consistent with little deviation but expensive.
Martin - Loose cannon and still may have a club suspension
Dahlhaus - Liiba effect unknown
Bennell - Who knows whether he will knuckle down or not.
Zorko - Will he have to share his mid time with Bell and effect of a fully fit Brisbane midfield not known.
Wingard - Possible option worth looking at but throws in the occasional low score.
Gunstan and Roughead both similarly priced and scores in 90's but both very up and down.

So not a lot to inspire from last years top 10. So trick is to try and find someone who may come into top 10 at a reasonable price.

I quite like westhoff... real POD

Lobbe ruck Dixon, Shulz playing tall woth wingard s.gray and other mids through the forward line, opens up a new gate for the hoff... Potentially playing a similar role to that of blicavs around stoppages or like hodge as a swing man all over the ground.
Could add a few hitouts, extra possessions and intercepting marks.

See what happens in Nab but i  like the look of him at the moment.

Post NAB wrap up:

Still got 144k in the bank and in all honesty I'm pretty happy with this team, not sure where to pump the extra coin. Obviously light up front and down back but I just don't have confidence in other players, was going to swap Dusty for Zorko but now the Zork is out first round. No Dependlebury either but he will be upgrade target no. 1. or Fyfe may yest become him, trying to decde whether he can get bac to 120s and is therefore under priced or just that he's not in that bracket any more...

Wanted to fit DeGoey in but Crouch to De Goey is the only real option to do that and I think I'd back Crouch. However it would give me another M/F link in the mids, considering all my forwards are DPP!

Peter

Well done - good side

That's a lot of carlton and Essendon in the back line.  I suspect (like the rest of you) that the ball will be down there a fair bit, but it's likely to be coming in fast and they can't all get hold of it.

Mix it up a bit with maybe Broad and Tom Lee??

Maybe move Brown fwd for King ( I don't get why you would want to be able to swing a ruck who is likely to get little if any game time from the fwds to be able to replace relatively low scoring ruck (Grimley) - unless it's to swing grimley fwd???

Broad was in but I'm not completely sold and sounds like Yarran could be back sooner rather than later. I think all those guys have good JS but yeah they aren't all going to score well every week, I'm ok with that.

Yep exactly that. Essentially King is my loophole player and there's more options in the fwd line to loophole him with than the ruck. That's basically all he's there for. Grimley can come forward if I need another person on the bench.

Then couldn't you achieve the same thing by picking a fwd rookie that's going to play?  You would also get his increased value for trading.  I'm not really into playing the non-playing captain thing, so to me it makes more sense to to have all my players growing in value.

Great Team! Would just rethink Bartel and Libba. - otherwise good structure.

Please look at my team ;D
