They were told by Steven Dank that everything was compliant. What else could they have done?

That is absolute Bullshower James. They could have asked the team doctor for starters
yeah, a major plank of the panel's reasons for finding of guilt ...

I think this is why the players can't claim innocence on a, "Oh! I didn't know, they told me it was fine" defence/excuse basis ...  :P

here is an interesting question.....

3. Why were Essendon players asked to sign consent forms before participating in the supplements program?

If the supplements program in place at Essendon in 2012 was legal and designed with the players’ long-term health in mind, why were they required to sign a consent form?

Furthermore, the consent form stated the program was WADA compliant, which has since been proven not to be the case.

Haha I just read these and honestly I think that's the easiest one to answer... Essentially any injectable you'd want to get consent for if not being given by a doctor. Docs have their own liability insurance if something goes wrong, scientists extremely rarely have the same sort of cover. So it'd be fairly standard and reasonable to get an informed consent and probably also personal liability waiver so if someone had an adverse reaction they couldn't go after the individual without evidence of gross negligence. Sounds a bit sketchy but it's fairly standard practice I would have thought.
I think we'd all generally see it as an ordinary 'butt covering' exercise - if you're going to inject someone, as Kiwi writes apart from docs/GPs as they have insurance, you'd get the injectee to sign a form for documentary evidence that they consented ... I agree, pretty standard I would've thought ...

i'm curious

what would happen if Essendon had 2 guns leave for another club like Hurley and Hooker on big contracts and we get the wooden spoon would get picks 1, 2 and 3 ?

PowerBug

Yep I guess so. There's no reason why they shouldn't get them.

Fined $200k by Workplace safety

Was always going to incur the wrath of WHS once the details got out.

unrelated to that- the other day I was on the AFL website and one of their polls came up asking where I thought essendon would finish in 2016 (I clicked lower than 2015). I can't remember the exact %, but something like 30% of people clicked that they would improve....

I know 15th/ 6 wins isn't a high bench mark, but improving off it :/

It's never gonna end. If they win the appeal is there anyone that can appeal that appeal?

Maybe that is the plan just keep appealing till they careers are over because they just get to old to play anymore ::)

Calling it now, this appeal will not go well for them.

"The appeal has been made on the grounds that the CAS erred in determining that the World Anti-Doping Agency  appeal should be conducted as a de novo hearing,’" AFLPA CEO Paul Marsh said at a news conference on Thursday morning.

"That is, WADA should only have been allowed to appeal the unanimous decision of the AFL Anti-Doping Tribunal on grounds of either legal error or that it was grossly unreasonable."

IIRC, TB4 was not part of the original AFL tribunal hearing, so WADA could go for a new (de novo) hearing on that grounds alone. In any case, I'm pretty sure the "grossly unreasonable" would be pretty easy to stump up an argument for.

Is it possible they could risk getting a longer ban out of this?

this is why I'm hoping Carlisle just accepts the ban. I'd hate for him to be able to play this year, only for the same shower to happen in a year or 2 when we actually need him.
