I gather that means that Hird is feeding off the Essendon carcass that he killed ?

Just watching the news about all the fallout and nearly fell off the couch when they said that Hird was going to tell his side to an audience that has to pay to be there , what an absolute dog of a man he should be copping more of a penalty than the players not lining his pockets ...... KARMA I hope

I must admit I was thinking wtf he's gonna charge $33 a seat.
I have no idea, but there may be costs associated with the venue. I'd happily pay $33 to hear him talk about it

Pretty confident the ABC would cover any costs associated with the venue for the right to be the first to interview Hird, I imagine they will get some substantial ratings out of it, I know i'll be watching. It just doesn't sit comfortable with me mate but then again im a bit of a dinosaur in the way I feel about these things. I can certainly understand people being willing to cough up the cash to be there it's going to be a big deal but i'm not comfortable with it.

Yep that's a fair call, didn't consider the ABC involvement

The outpouring of support from the Essendon family continues to gain momentum with the Club today surpassing 40,000 members.

It’s only the second time in the Club’s 142 year history the milestone has been passed in the month of January.

The Club’s official membership tally currently sits at 40,772, compared to 40,144 at the same time last year.

CEO Xavier Campbell said the Club’s members continue to show their true colours.

probably right as you say, but the packs of marauding lawyers filtering the answers will bland it out Big time....(IMO)

GSC do you know what the likelihood of Dank going to prison over all this is?

Tracey Holmes that's doing the Interview for the ABC has stated that no question is out she can ask what she wants or she wouldn't do it otherwise so we'll see mate, im hoping that's how it will go.

With it being live will be interesting unless all the questions have been vetted by lawyers before hand.

No idea, but I suspect the chance of prison is probably low. Criminal court is a different ball game, the standard of proof required is higher (comfortable satisfaction was the standard for CAS, criminal court has to be beyond reasonable doubt). Plus I'm not sure what he could actually be charged with, and the only person who could conclusively say what the players were given is Dank, who has the right not to incriminate himself.

Basically the WADA case is a compelling circumstantial case that the players were given TB4, which is an anti-doping offense but not a criminal one as far as I'm aware. There may be a case for assault for injecting them with one thing while telling them it was another, but he did have their consent so it becomes a bit of a he said/she said argument about exactly what they consented to.

The section that Grazz posted here:
Quote from: Grazz on January 13, 2016, 03:17:29 PM

was the bit I found truly mind boggling. If that actually occurred, that's almost certainly a criminal offense, but just a section of a conversation is in no way incriminating. Talking about committing a crime is not the same as actually doing it, so unless there is some conclusive evidence that this specific event happened then it may never have actually been done.

Basically he seems to have very little morals or ethics, and no great deal of respect for authority, but it would be pretty hard from the evidence presented to the CAS to ping him for criminal charges.

If there is something criminal he could be charged for it's more likely to be around the purchase and importation of drugs than anything he actually did to the players. But I suspect he's pretty smart, even if he is dodgy, so he's probably covered himself there. But who knows.

What I think is more likely will be the club and/or AFL going after damages.

128 was the section that made my blood boil the most too GCS.

What an absolute stain of a human being.

Because of his complete lack of moral or ethical fibre, 16 blokes careers are completely smashed. Who knows what they will play like when or if they play again. A year is a long time out of footy.
