Yep same Grazz. I always had a slight belief that he wasn't the evil ringleader he was made out to be. And he is still guilty in this don't get me wrong, but at least now we can see that it wasn't as reported and can see who the true evil was. I'm the same as you, I cannot understand how Dank can use those kids as test subjects. It's disgusting

I suggest they do whatever it takes to stop this from happening ever again, is it possible > flowered if I know.

It's the AFL police, sorry man I didn't know you knew everything.

I never said I knew everything, but I'm pretty sure I've got a better perspective on this than most people because a) I'm not a die-hard bombers supporter, b) I work in this field so I get most of the jargon and c) in a past life I was a tested athlete so I know what the expectation for compliance is. And the reality is, tough as it may be for bombers fans to swallow, the club and the players massively f'd up, on a number of levels. And yeah, it sucks that the players wear the force of the punishment, but that's the arena they work in. This is their job, it's one of their job expectations. And this is Essendons's failing, not the AFL.

I hold sporting integrity in extremely high regard, so the suggestion that Essendon should have gotten off with anything less than what they did does annoy me. I was astounded when the AFL tribunal found them not guilty, entirely unsurprised when WADA appealed, and find it laughable that the word "unjust" is being thrown around about the CAS result. Sure, the biggest culprit in all this is Dank, and he's come out relatively unscathed (for now, I definitely think it's a "watch this space" situation). But the players have to cop the punishment, and they knew this when all of this started. More of them should have followed the lead of Zaha. You can't have an anti-doping defense of "I didn't know what it was", even if that's true. Because it opens the door for athletes to take everything they want, and then when they get caught they just line up and say the doc told them it was just a regular flu jab. Sorry sunshine, I don't care what the doc told you it was, fact is you're juiced up and that gives you an unfair advantage. But there were so many warning signs along the way that they should have done more. Saad got 18 months for taking the wrong pre-workout, and none of these guys thought to speak up about injections they were getting told to hide from the club doctor?

If the AFL gets more involved then clubs lose their independence to run different programmes and that's integral to good competition. It's the clubs which have to maintain tight control, not the AFL.

Look at it another way: The vast majority of people on this site are just footy fans, there would be few/no people here who fit into the category of current or ex-AFL player or coach. If I told you that I could give you an injection that could help you recover from your workouts faster, but you shouldn't tell your doctor about it, how many of you would think that was legit? And if you then asked me "are you sure it's legit?", and my response was "yeah man, of course", how many of you would take me on my word alone? Because that's what happened here, and it happened to people who should know much, much better.

Yeh it is disgusting mate, I'm still struggling to comprehend how far he was willing to go with the players to achieve his desired result. He basically was willing to use the Essendon boys as Lab Rats for his greater benefit.

Cronulla are in deep shower are they are in a lot of debt as well. That club wont last too much longer the way they are going.

Dons at least by the sounds of it have some major backers.

Looks like Port may sue as well http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/port-adelaide-chairman-david-koch-says-essendon-hoodwinked-afl-rivals/news-story/f8a4831cf9635b47f36bc63392cf84cb

Good stuff GC, my thoughts are basically tha same, but you articulate it way better, I'll be using your quotes at times to idiots who don't get it.  I work in the medical field so have some idea of the ethics side of things especially for trial drugs, as well as just taking whatever a Dr gives you without having informed consent.

Just watching the news about all the fallout and nearly fell off the couch when they said that Hird was going to tell his side to an audience that has to pay to be there , what an absolute dog of a man he should be copping more of a penalty than the players not lining his pockets ...... KARMA I hope

I have no idea, but there may be costs associated with the venue. I'd happily pay $33 to hear him talk about it
