Looks fine to me, although I'll be starting with 5 mids most likely which would make those 4 look great

Ablett and Rocky are locked, and then I'm thinking 3 of Fyfe, Pendles, Sloane, Gray, Jelwood, Libba and Ward. Which 3 will come down to price, draw etc. I haven't even looked at anything so far (Eg Fanplanner) so I'll start to finally look into season 2016 on Wednesday when SC Gold opens up

Going very expensive in there mate, really??

I'm considering an Ablett (130), Rocky (120), Gray/Jelwood (115), Sloane (115), Crouch (100), Swallow (105+), Myers (80+), Rookie (65) midfield which would cost the same as Fyfe (125), Pendles (120), Sloane (115), Ablett (130), Rocky (120), Rookie (65), Rookie (65), Rookie (65) for example

The more I think about it too, the more I see David Swallow as a lock for a mid spot at $370k, so much upside

Yeah not being tagged although true probably isn't a real reason. He's a decent pick, but I can't see anymore upside in him at that price

As for Greene, my gut just tells me he won't improve either. Harsh call so early in his career but I just feel like other giants will pass him. Just a gut feel, that's all

My gut is also telling me not to start Barlow either. Crazy I know, but I'll probably end up starting him due to lack of options I like
Yeah I have a feeling that Barlow is set to decline from now on. The younger Freo mids are quickly improving (i.e. Hills, Neale, Sherridan at half-back) and bringing in Bennell may not help Barlow either (conversely, it could reinvigorate him that).

My bet is that it's all downhill from here for Barlow (purely my opinion based on watching him this season)

Regarding Greene, you may be right. He had a fantastic debut season but there are plenty of players who excel in their first season but fail to improve and the late 'improvers' easily overtake them (he plays with two of these player types - i.e. Spud Scully & Spud Rhys Palmer). He already has a reputation as a whipping boy and since his debut, his only good performances are in patches of good form. I think he will be a form player at best - rather than a bona fide premium. He can either slide downhill from here or remain a form player - I just cannot see him being a consistent major ball winner for the Giants. Treloar leaving should help him, but by 'help' I think it will mean two or three extra scores over 100 in the season than he would have got if Treloar was playing

Very similar thoughts, more so "feels" to myself

Treloar leaving opens up an opportunity for someone, but I just don't think that someone is Greene. Guys like Coniglio, Whitfield, Kelly, Hoskin-Elliott, Steele etc all have more upside than him IMO. I honestly see Greene as a 85-95avg player. 4 tons from 22 games this year wasn't exactly inspiring either

Barlow I am much more confident picking over Greene. He has the history and at 505k you cant really lose. Gut says he will probably taper off a little, but at that price and the runs he has on the board coupled with plenty of forwards no longer available I think he probably becomes close to a must, even though I'm slightly hesitant atm
Yeah Barlow's DPP status makes him a definite starter/upgrade target. Personally, I would rather wait because I can either see him return to a premium average or average around the same.

Pure mid I would consider him an upgrade target but the DPP status makes him one to consider as a starter

Rico's point is that it's kinda pointless to say he won't get tagged since players who play his role don't get tagged anyway. If defenders do at all get tagged, it's usually rebounding defenders.

how is it pointless i was pointing out to RD why i liked him
Nothing at all mate, pick him because he won't get tagged.
Any chance of Dawson copping the tag?

I think 370K is a bit ambitious

2015 ave 85.83 x 5396 = 463K  6 games = 10% discount final price 416K

Still cheap, will be interesting to see what Libba's price will be

_wato

I think I'd still pick him at $416k

Everyone got him at $429k and he's two years on from there now, will be a better player and should increase his scoring

Yes he's a mid only by the sounds of it but that is what intrigues me, and he could even go 110 if he plays pure mid imho, would not for one second deny he could do that, especially if O'Meara doesn't hit the ground running

The reality is, I won't really know what structure I'll be going with until we know what rookies are likely to line up Rd one

If there are only 4-5 good looking mid rookies then I'll start strong in the mids with 5 out and out starters and maybe a cheaper option like Swallow. Just too early for me to even contemplate who I'll be starting and the structure I'll be going with. Just throwing up names for now really

Mcveigh and Bartel down back, Ablett and rocky in the mids, NicNat in the ruck and lids and Barlow/dusty are the only guys I can say are locks to start. Everything else will form over the next two months

Looking forward to being able to get in tomorrow and have my first look at prices, positions etc

Money Shot

I'm really tempted to start Greene but just don't think he will be a good enough scorer to be a keeper. Can see him going 85-90 with patches of 100+ then patches of poor form as well. Although guys like Barlow, Dahlhous and Bennell are 50-100k more expensive I think they are worth it!

Crouch, Omeara and Libba are now seriously getting considered along with Sloane and Rocky!

kilbluff1985

Fyfe, Ablett, Rocky, Pendles, Crouch, JOM, Libba, Myers

wonder how affordable that will be if all named round 1

The_Captain

Why is Ablett so expensive. Should be priced at his average..... at worst... Let alone the discount they havent given him...
