Agree with southstorm, i did the calculations based on goldy's last year scores... even if he does drop to 600k by rd 5 leuy wont have appreciated enough to warrant that upgrade as itll still be 200k upgrade which will require 3-4 trades. I'd rather spend and extra 400k for him and have 150 captain scores than burn 3-4 trades.
And theres no point waiting for another drop because he has Suns/Dogs/Saints/Dons/Blues which would probably mean he will be back above 700k.

Bottom line if you want goldy then start him

Good analysis mate, especially the point about his price likely to soar back up (even if it had fallen quite a bit) with the run he has of opposition Ruckmen after R5.
Just curious what did you estimate Luey averaging over those first 5 rounds? not factoring in opponent Rucks would be interesting to get say 3 groups of averages at say...80 then 90 and 100 just to see the best/worst case scenario's played out  ;)

I don;t have access to much in the way of stats. But if my memory is correct Mumford was reasonably close to Goldy cash and score wise before being injured this year. So I'm taking Mumford to upgrade to Goldy with Nicnat as R 2. and probably Bird in preference to Leuey at F 4. Not sure whether to back up or not yet.     :-\

If you were going with Mummy I think you would be a very very brave man not too have any back up ;)

The reasoning in going for him explains the no - back up. He can, as he did last season, score very high and catch Goldstein. So if Mummy goes down, and I mean injured, I'm expecting a sideways to Goldstein would be very close to being viable. Haven't put my team up because for comment because I don't comment on many. Did so very badly this year I don't think it fitting for me to advise those who did so much better. But just for the record ATM my ruck and forward line is

Ruck   Mumford    Nicnat             EM    B King   R/F

For    D Martin,   H Bennell,   K Tippett,   T Greene,  D Wells,   B Kennedy,           EM   C Pettracca   J Pickett

I did have Leuenberger in as well but thought it a bit ruck heavy and went down to Kennedy ( Collingwood one ?? ) and made a defence rookie in to Seedsman.  Cheers.     :)   I took Tippett because I think he'll kill it early and in a perfect world could make an ideal F7 or R3 for finals time. Leuenberger I had in purely for the $'s. Purely coincidental that ruck cover is provided but would have no problems without it because of the Goldy, Mummy theory above.         8)

Started with Bellchambers at R2 last year and it absolutely killed me. Never again. Set and forget rucks.

Besides, I owe GOATstein for saving my ass so many times last year.

Goldy, Nic Nat. Lock them in.

cortez

just putting it out there.

From 2010 - 2014 Sani, Cox, NicNat, Minson, Jacobs were the number one rucks in the comp only to relinquish that title the next year. In 2015 it was Goldy.

And also 23 players have averaged over 120 in Supercoach history. Only 4 have gone on to back up with an above 120 average the next year. All were mids in Ablett, Swan, Pendles and Fyfe.

In saying these facts is Goldy worth the near 700k?

Even if he drops 10 ppg and you pay overs for him, he's still going to score a ton of points for you, is a good vc option and will be the best ruck at the end of thr season. If you know a player will be the top scorer on a particular line, is there any reason not to pick him? Doesn't that make them a must?

For now Goldy is back in my starting side after I dropped Parker to Oliver so I could strengthen my D4,D5.

Then I had cash left over to bring him back in. Still not locked in but by dropping a premo mid it would be better to have the super premo ruck in my side. Still taking the risk for reward strategy with Mumford at R2.

There is only one reason why I have goldy in my side at the moment. That's because so many good coaches on fan footy have picked him.

I am not convinced he is worth 100k over Martin and gee 135k over Nic Nat, that almost sounds absurd to me. I just don't know where to use those extra funds to represent enough value in not picking goldy.

Not an absolute lock in my side either.
