Hmmmm, spent a long time in footy, who knows what or how Don Pyke will run the unprecedented top 6 placed crows?

I wonder if JJ can expect a handball from Menzel this year? :o

But yeah, Menzel will play with Wright and Dangerfield gone from a forwardline, my count is a starting six. Tex, JJ, Lynch, Cameron, Eddie and Troy

But I would like to see Mitch McGovern at some point though ;)

Pykey knows what he's bloody well doing!

But Crows coach Don Pyke insists his game-plan won't be dependent on a single superstar.

Last year at West Coast Pyke helped senior coach Adam Simpson implement a tactical plan that managed to absorb a terrific number of injuries, particularly in defence, but still push the club into a Grand Final.

Hey Tbag. Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask but do have any insight into how the crows back 6 will line up this year? With Jaensch back and the new recruits, there looks to be a few guys fighting for the same spots.

Hard to say just yet with the battle for spots but I'd say at this early stage with Smith and Seeds on the wing.

Brown, Talia, Lever, Laird, Hendo and one of a fit Jaensch, Hartigan, Hampton or Cheney. Pending wether they would use Lever as the KD2 yet or not!

Tylo

Cheers for that mate. Hopefully NAB gives some indication

I also have a question on one of the many rebounding defenders (wouldn't mind one or 2 of them for the dees!) that the crows have. One Mr Jaensch, I have been tracking his progress on his knee recovery, how has he been going?

By all reports he has been going extremely well, looks to be on track for an early return. Although will have to earn his place back through SANFL.

Barra13

Is that because of the abundance of defenders or is it for his misdemeanor?

TomK

Abundance of defenders but fully fit I would most definitely have him in the team

Barra13

Sweet. Thanks a lot. Been keeping an eye on him as he is discounted about $50,000 in DT.

Does anyone know if Smithy has been doing work with the mid group like rumoured at the start of the pre season ?

I had it completely wrong - I would have to say I realised it after round 3.

I had the Crows fighting for the 8. But they are playing fantastic, rotating, footy (players won't be fatigued as well).

The teams that play best either improve faster or challenge for the premiership.

I have the Crows as a top 4 team in terms of entertainment value and have to change my vote from competing for the 8, to fighting for the 4 (as the season progresses that could potentially turn into fighting for the top 2 - depending on Sydney, Hawthorn, West Coast, & how the Bulldogs handle their injury toll).

Definitely top 5 imo - I cannot remember the last time I actually enjoyed watching the Crows play

Don Pyke is certainly in line for the AFLCA Coach of the Year at this rate.
