I will watch the ps very closely. Can't see him missing too many early games and still think he will go 100 odd for the season.  Think as long as it is only 2-3 games he misses he has to be locked in

Perhaps it matters more WHEN he misses the games, and no time is sacred as shown this season. If I took him it would only be as a late upgrade. There are so may more players coming back at better prices, that have more upside and less risk. Never thought I would ever hear myself say that about Buddy.    :'(

Doubt there are many more players with greater upside in the forward this year ST, many tough decisions will have to be made to make the right call on your first two or three premos.. Buddy priced at $470k so priced at like an 85 average (just guessing), and is capable of 105+, especially with his opening draw

One of those players who could really make your season from the very start, yes he will miss games but a lot of players also do the same

Risk v reward he is definitely a guy in that category and is definitely capable

Really hope buddy stays unique.
Have every confidence he will bounce back this season

I'm just a little reserved on Buddy, hasn't reached the dominant heights yet at Sydney playing more a team game up there

In the monitoring pile!

Not the best news, for Buddy himself and for SC potential
Depression is a dog. It doesn't discriminate and it doesn't go away.
Hopefully he can manage it well and have good head space long term.
John Kirwan is the public face of depression in NZ. He is an ex All Black. Former national coach of Japan and recent coach of the troubled Auckland Blues. He is a revered and loved figure here but acknowledges he faces his demons everyday. For him being active, exercising and being healthy are keys and if he doesn't manage that side of things he knows he will be in trouble. I've seen depression up close and personal in my family and wouldn't wish it upon anyone. The strongest and most successful people in life can fall victim to it and suffer horrendously from it.
I hope he isn't stuck in the black hole and is clambering to get out. Hopefully he is out of the blackness and trying to keep the demons at bay. Playing footy will be good for him I imagine, similar to John Kirwan or JK as everyone knows him here.
From a SC perspective he is a risk/reward type.
I'm not risking him but hope he makes me pay and does well.

sammy123

hope he gets better soon. but a NO from me this year

Hawker_08

I picked him year in and year out regardless of his price. Now he has a discounted price of 100-150k from previous years and certainly still has the talent and skill required to continue his amazing career. Nothing has changed for me. I think that there is just as good a chance that Martin and or Bennell will miss games this year because of on field or off field incidents and Buddy at his best can be just as good in terms of Supercoach and in terms of his impact on a game. I hope he gets through this period and gets back to his best!!

If you're going to pick Buddy you need to realise that it's very likely you will need to trade him out at some stage.

Historically he starts the first half of the year off well with a high SC average and doesn't miss many games but then in the back half of the season he misses multiple games and his scoring drops right off.

Taking his scoring history into consideration and the fact the Swans have a great early run means he could be a great starting pick.

Currently my F4.

Not sure about dropping input, he was injured last year which explains the form.

He may miss a few games but if thats late its ok as most get a f7 m9 swingman.

Not just last year mate. He has scored considerably better in the first half of the season compared to the second half every year since 2010 except for 2014.

not sure I agree

2011: last 6 games 134 average
2012: round 10 onward 144 average (from 7 games though)
2013: was up and down all year, his last 5 games was his season average
2014: as you said finished strong

really 2013 he finished on pace with his average and in the other years his last month to two months he beat his average so came home strong. @015 was the outlier with him injured.

2015: was injured

I just convinced myself to start him.

Collingwood
Carlton
Giants
Crows
Eagles
Lions
Essendon

I can see some big scores in there. Carlton Lions Essendon he could go really big.
