I think Cricket Australia need to review who they have over on tour. Arguably the biggest 2 test matches of the season (Melbourne/Sydney) against the 3rd worst team in the world. I know it's pretty one sided with us at home, but we need to get a team that atleast looks like they're trying. We wouldn't play Zimbabwe at home at the big grounds, so why are we playing the West Indies? Something needs to change I think.

there's only handful of good teams though, that's the problem. we can't just keep playing England, India, South Africa (this is another problem also, because they like playing their own boxing day test, same with NZ), Pakistan, Sri lanka... other teams are gonna have to tour at some point

Then test cricket is doomed then mate because you can't have a team this bad playing in the biggest 2 tests of the year CA has to come up with something else maybe instead of a team this bad they would be better organizing a couple test against the rest of the world recently retired players , this dispute between west indies players and officials has been going on for to long
We haven't played Pakistan at home since 09/10, surely we could play them again. Also a ROTW XI idea could work, would probably be better than this

At least Australia's mark as the most pathetic innings of the year/decade/century won't be surpassed today

Roach's approach to the short ball is worrying to watch. :o

Disappointing not to see Brathwaite bring up his century, looked decent. Still no where near as disappointing as the Windies team tho...

Pakistan will be here next summer they said so that's something to look forward to I guess. Should be better than this series.

Honestly deserved the ton, the only Windies batsman to show any fight. The ball that got him was a beauty though.

You'd hope Pakistan would be better, they're ranked 4th I think, so should be better.

Khawaja is in the 13 man squad for Boxing Day, SOK the extra man in the 14 man squad for Sydney.

So it look like Uzzie is gonna have to prove himself in two games with the Thunder if he's to make the XI on the 26th.

Yep it's South Africa at the start and Pakistan for the Christmas matches next season. Word is Hobart is not getting the test and Canberra will be trialled.

As was also mentioned above South Africa and New Zealand both like to host on Boxing Day so asking them to come over for Christmas is very difficult and limits options. New Zealand play ODIs through that period though the barbies :P

A 5 match Aus vs SA series would be ideal but good luck getting that to happen. Imagine the uproar if you told MCC members and other Boxing Day lovers that we aren't playing a match at the MCG this summer coz the team will be in South Africa. Same deal there and we gotta respect that. :)

Perhaps if we introduced neutral tests then somehow convinced South Africa to host England vs India over there on Boxing Day, then got the Saffers to Australia :P

So I guess this means I can't possibly get an LBW decision wrong again. All else being correct, a ball hitting the stumps is not out LBW.

As I said earlier PB time to revisit Umpires call - In my opinion if more than half the ball is hitting there is sufficient evidence to over rule.

Bill Manspeaker

yeah that was a shocker. I don't understand why it was umpires call though. I thought if at least half the ball is hitting the inside half of the stump, it should come up red shouldn't it? that and half the ball is hitting under the top of the stumps.

I can explain how this came about though. So yes they use the half a ball rule to determine whether it's hitting or not. However the line is drawn from the middle of the outside stumps (off and leg) and the BOTTOM of the bails.

So as you can see, the ball is more than half hitting inside the leg stump, so that is fine, but the line from the bottom of the bails is oh so slightly below the centre of the ball. And that is why it came up like that. It's a computer so it's not wrong in the sense that it doesn't know where to draw the line.

Surely the technology is precise enough to be able to move the margins a little bit more narrow, there's no way that's missing the stumps
