Hey MS,

Like the team and thanks for sharing. Made me think about your Structure and compare to my current team:

B - 4 prem 2 Rook - Difference is up 40 points (Back Prem over Back Rookie)
M - 4 Prem 2 Mid 2 Rook - Difference is down 80 points (Mid Prem and Mid Mid Pricer over 2 Mid Rookies)
R - 2 Prem
F - 4 Prem 2 Rook - Difference is up 40 points (Forward Prem over Back Rookie)

Points per week are the same, however you will need an additional trade if O'Meara say doesn't become a keeper. The advantage you have is a Mid prem is harder to upgrade than the other lines.

Think the better rookies will determine the ultimate structure.

Reckon this is the key here.

What are people's thoughts on starting without wells and Simpkin???

Wells, Simpkin, Aish, Parish
Kerridge, Petrecca/Kommer, Brown, Danger

What are people's thoughts?

I think that with

Kerridge, Kommer and Petrecca all looking like playing early and being 100k cheaper than Wells and Simpkin I don't think the extra 100k is needed.

what are your thoughts?
I won't pick Simpkin if there are solid 120k rookies

Wells I'm picking because there is still a small chance he could pull out a 95 average and become a keeper

Kerridge petracca by far better picks compared to Simpkin ... But it's that next one ... Would rather wells over Kommer

But if u are doing a x vs y comparison with those 2 lines then clearly it's the second option

Spite

We nearly have an identical team. I have Simpkin instead of JOM and different back premos, all the rest is the same. oO

Good team MS but I doubt you will start with that line up think you can put a line through O"meara starting round one but that is ok because you will need that money to fix up your benchs and cheap backline as I think there is little chance that even half of them will start round 1 in my opinion ;)

Yeah I am starting Jaeger at this stage as I would rather be taking him out than trying to get him in!

Interesting approach, I did that one year with M.Crouch and it paid dividends, he was in the side after a few weeks.

Im loving the light defence it's what I'm doing.

I'd consider what Shaker said about O'Maera tho. I want him too but look, you can usually guarantee that someone will get injured (a premo or another mid pricer) or suspended or get a role change or just play crap! So if he's gunning after 2-3 rounds then jump on.

Rucks are good, forwards are good but you are batting way too deep in the mids which means your defence is no good.

Yeo, Smith and Malceski are all very high risk and none of them can be considered as premiums. Would prefer to see the majority as Bartel/Simpson types if you are going light in defence.

Plus the best scoring rookies are always available in the mids and you will be having none on the field with your current setup.

ms, think you have put out better teams than this.
backs to weak, and not sure dahl can put it together to make enough this year.

Very happy with this side. Yes I know I have a "weak" forward and defence but surely my midfield and rucks make up for it.

You can keep JOM and have a 3 week expensive donut if you want  ;)

Read this newspaper article from my local paper from a few weeks ago

http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/sport/afl/jaeger-omeara-prepared-to-take-extra-two-months-in-return-from-injury-if-it-helps-longterm-future/news-story/2d3379d8b67b12d0893def9d885920d0

Focus on this paragraph “I don’t want to take any risks. It will be a 12-month mark around Round 1 but if I need a couple of extra weeks or if I need an extra month or two then I’m willing to take that to lengthen out my career"

He is too much of a risk and there are much better rookie options available.

The defense is too risky. If you are gunna go with 3 keepers only (not proven to be premos) you need to pick at least 2 of the likes of Shaw, Simpson, Bartel.

The ruck and forwards IMO are fine.

In reality though you have posted much better and more balanced teams previously.

Structure is identical to mine, in fact our midfield is exactly the same barring some rookie selections.

The main issue I have with this team is the back line, I think you can afford to take 1 risk, but I think you have taken 3 risks and may have to use 3 correctional trades. I'm not even going speculate which ones could be correct but chances of all three being top six backmen are next to zero.

The players you should choose from to form your defensive core should be proven performers or breakout players from 2015, guys like Rance, Simpson, Bartel, Houli etc all have a low price floor which provides a bit of safety in the event they don't produce their best seasons. Laird is another I like and should be mid nineties again this year.

Plan for McVeigh, Shaw, a bolter or perhaps Boyd after he has a decent rest. Your starting 3 will all need to be around the 90 mark.

This is my one concern too.
Have 53k which can turn Yeo into a Simpson but I'm just waiting and seeing at this stage.

O'Meara to Ben Kennedy or Mills will do the trick, that should be enough for 2 out of the above list. The only benefit in holding O'Meara is if he only misses a week or two, the rest of the competition will jump onboard if he's carving it up and they will be able to do a straight swap with a maxed out rookie.

PureSwag

Jager to Mills/Parish will leave u some extra cash to maybe put a mid priced player to prem.
