Anyone thinking of cashing in Kerridge this week? I wanted to hold and turn into Dahlhaus, but I'm thinking trade Kerridge now and hold Smith for a couple more weeks might work better for the $$$ (or lack of).

That's a pretty pessimistic and ordinary call if you ask me.

Castagna only played two games against Port and Hawthorn respectively, the entire team was pretty average across the board for a good month during that patch of games (Rounds 3 to 7). The reason he got dropped is because his stats weren't that flattering and as a second gamer, it's easy to drop him. There were some good signs across both games from him. Since returning to the VFL, his numbers have been good and he's been consistently one of our best even in a VFL side that's been mediocre. He can't improve if he's not getting the exposure at senior level. For all we know, he could be close to BOG in his 3rd whenever that may be. Menadue was rewarded for consistently good performances at VFL level and came in and played his best game to date.

As for Marcon, he's experienced as a mature-ager, has a big body and is proven to be a consistent performer regardless of how his team goes. His numbers are always great and he's never far from the best on ground if not it. Hasn't had a game at AFL level yet, but given the chance, I think there's a very good chance he'll live up to expectation as he's better than his good mate Kane Lambert. However, he hasn't been given a run yet but that time will come. It's plain unfair to suggest he'd be 'exposed' at AFL level with nothing to back it up.

Some really good insight there Nige.

I think you hit the nail on the head. It's too easy for us to rule out rookies who come into a team who are playing like rubbish, the team gets belted, they get 3 kicks and it's back to the reserves.
You see it all the time, guys like Tucker for example. Showed a bit in his first two games but was dropped for a lack of work rate. He comes back into the team and is looking to develop into a very good player.
Dunkley from the dogs is another. Wasn't tearing it up in the vfl but kept on working hard, got his chance again and came back with a 90 odd against Collingwood.

There's no reason as to why Castagna can't do a similar thing.

Sure give Marcon a go at AFL level maybe when the coach stops telling everyone we can still make finals this will happen but it is a big step up from VFL to AFL and I doubt he is the answer to our depth woes if he is so good he would be getting a go because there are players in the 1's that certainly not going so well and that makes me think the coach does not think he is the player our team needs

Unless you wanted to pay a little extra for Logan Austin or Tom Lee (if he plays).

Very thin this week :o

Tom Cole perhaps? Played two in a row and on the bubble but I doubt he plays. Was a late in against Brisbane.

I'm going him simply for the fact he has M/D dpp with Bartel and currently Rich and gives me ultra flexibility in case of an out. I can have a choice as to who comes on out of Collins/Trengove/Tracca in the mids, while if a forward or defender go out at the same time, I still have further options.

No he wasn't. Played in rounds 10 and 11 vs GC and WBD

Can't see him getting another game tbh

RaisyDaisy

Corey Wagner from North and Matt Kennedy from GWS have played the last 2 and Jesse Joyce has played 3 now but is still only 122k

They're probably the only other options

Joyce is MID/DEF so would be a better choice than Cole

Ahhhh did see that but didn't even realise when I posted this. He was a late in for McGovern against Dogs but.

Have changed trades but will still bring him in later on

Mitch Brown from West Coast worth a look?

What are people doing with Trengove if he doesn't return this week?

I would hope he does because the Dees had a few spuds today that I don't understand are ahead of him, but if he doesn't get up this week it could get concerning

Also, do we have any decent rookies coming up besides Broad this week? SOS Jr the following week, but I don't need any forwards
