Rookie discussions and when to cash

My future planning relies on Hartley being dropped this week... Can't afford to have him lose cash!

Surely, with 3 touches and 77 min game time he's on the block. Only thing is, who could come in?? Any bombers supporters have thoughts on this?

He's injured, could be out for 2-3 weeks

I'll probably be looking at Collins next week but then i'll have 2 Freo rookies in the back line which scares the shower out of me!

It might be smarter to just go Smith>Matho now and accept the 50k loss Smith can still make.

I wouldn't be going near Paine, but i don't need a fwd downgrade.

Remember RD injuries occur often and blokes in the seconds always put their hands up throughout the year, don't take rookies you have no confidence in because you can't spot any on the horizon. gl mate.

Has anyone said this? I'm not sure, but DBJ and Walla have BEs of 44 and 43 respectively.
Bennedy on the other hand has a BE of 96

Looking through the trade thread I see a lot of people seem to be trading Smith to Matho

Not a fan of that trade. Smith is a better scorer and still has 50-80k to make and JS is much better

Reckon I am going to pass on Matho now that Davis and Dunkley have more cash to make

Only concern is, I'll grab Collins this week but won't have any downgrade targets to make money for a while by the looks of things  :-[

100% agree with you Raisy... I have no doubt someone will pop up eventually, but I'd rather have an idea who that is

I've never understood why people say this. Someone always pops up. Mathieson is on the bubble this week, Collins next week and I'm sure another decent rookie will debut this week (ie. Trengove).

Besides Round 7, there has been at least one decent downgrade target on the bubble every week:

R3: Starting rookie correction week (ie. Papley if you missed him)
R4: Hartley (Def)
R5: Byrne-Jones (or Byrne/Wagner) (All Def)
R6: Smith (Mid)
R8: Petracca (Fwd/Mid)
R9: MacPherson (Mid) (Looked good, unfortunately injured)
R10: Hopper (Mid)
R11: Mathieson (Mid)
R12: Collins (Def)
R13: Will be named this week (Good chance its Trengove)

The lack of forward rookies has been concerning, but the DPP flexibility of Brown, Tippa & Adams have helped minimize that issue.

I  was waiting to see who Lions dropped for Rocky as I suspect would have been one of Keays or Mattho. Now that Lester is injured for 3 weeks re-evaluating as it may mean that we can get at least 3 price rises from Mattho.  Will still wait on Brisbane teams though as they could still spring a surprise and give Jansen an opportunity given his form in NEAFL. .
