If Hewett is dropped, does anyone see any value in going a week late to Parish for ~100k? (after price rises)

I have to field 2 rookies in the midfield each week and I have been unimpressed with the scoring of Mills, Oliver (benched this week), Menadue, Hewett & Davis so far.

If he is dropped I am using him as a captain loophole option.

Have changed the Title to Rookie discussions and when to cash.

Menadue is probably the main one as he may be dropped and has a B/e 19.

Most other rookies still have negative B/e and still have cash to make.

Hewett 29 and Mills 19

What to do?

Am thinking trade in for a cheaper rookie to get cash to go from Rocky to Fyfe.

Only used one trade so far.

Just can't see Rocky being any better than M8/9 and Fyfe is going to get more expensive from now I think.

I'm hesitant on picking Hartley after reading this from Woosha this morning when asked if Grima would be playing this week

"Grimesy reckons he's ready, he's said that for a few weeks. He's upright out there, so that's good. He's ready to go," coach John Worsfold said on Monday.

"We've been pretty happy with Michael Hartley, so we've got to weigh all that up, but Grima's available this week. We didn't really consider him for selection last week [as we] wanted to get him as fit as we possibly could first."

To me, that sounds like when Grima does come in, Hartley is out

Woosha could still have Hartley ahead of Grima in the pecking order. He was asked a question specifically about Grima, so he had to say something. Pressure is on that spot for sure though.

I'd hold off on Hartley and wait for Byrne to be on the bubble.

Wait and see how long Sandilands is out for, North will beat Freo this week in Melbourne and North still run a tagger...
I can see Fyfe being much less consistent this year and he should get to 600k, better options out there under his current 650k price tag at the moment. jmo of course, gl.

With most rookies having a poor week is there a real danger that the forward and mid benches could be empty ? Menadue , Short , Hewitt , Papley , Milera even Mills and Davis were not very good and unless there is an influx of newbies it is looking grim ?

This is what i'm worried about. Parish & Oliver looked great on the weekend around the contest, so does it suddenly become a priority to jump on these guys before their prices rise out of reach and we're stuck with too many deadwood rookies?

Sure, Petracca & Keays could debut this week. But by the time both of those guys are on the bubble, all of Hewett, Menadue, Mills & Davis could be maxed out in value or worse, dropped.

Worst case, trade Keays and Petracca in before the bubble, no biggie, everyone will be in the same boat.

You should be looking to get an edge on the competition though and cash generation is a priority for me.

What would you rather?
Parish, Oliver, Petracca & Keays all making money for you in round 5 or,
Petracca, Keays & then deadwood donuts from 2 of Hewett/Menadue/Mills/Davis?
