Any news on Hartley and chances for Rd2?

Mat0369

Bugg played a shocker as well which should help him. Basically it looks like one of Frost/Pedo, Bugg, Harmes and McDonald out for Dunn, Lumumba, Petracca and Trengove when they are all ready to go.

RaisyDaisy

OK, so Hewett and Papley did very well

I'm not upset about not having Papley because he was never in the frame for me, and I doubt anyone started him

I did however change Hewett to Dunkley today which I am a little annoyed at

I won't be grabbing either of these guys next week, but they are on the radar for rd3 corrective trades

Milera to Papley could be a nice money maker indeed

Could be a case of not even being able to fit in Hewett. Will need to see how Dunkley looks, and what his JS looks like

I feel your pain, I did the same thing too  :'(

I wonder if a cheeky double corrective trade of B.Crouch to Hewett or Papley (If Crouch under performs next week or gets injured) and Dea to Lonergan could be a good move at round 3?  :-\

sammy123

i went with papley as a bench option happy with that

I was the opposite.

Chucked Ppley in there but took him out for McGovern at the last second. Neither were starting but still annoyed.  :-[

Likewise but there is still plenty to come back for the swans and got to give Dunkley a chance.
I have papley and just hoping he can make it for a couple of price risers or til petracca comes back.

Liam Sumner played in his first game of football since Greater Western Sydney traded him to Carlton in 2015.

• Nine things we learned from round one: The man who will rescue the Blues

Collingwood

This weekend: Practice match, Collingwood v Coburg - Saturday March 26, 3pm, Holden Centre

Ben Reid dominated in defence and put himself in line for a spot in the senior side. Jonathon Marsh was similarly impressive down back.

Jeremy Howe was the better of the recruits, and took several contested marks up forward. James Aish kicked three goals while playing mostly on a wing.

The Pies' draftees played well â€" Tom Phillips and Ben Crocker each kicked two goals. Rupert Mills came on in the second half and won plenty of the ball.

Jesse White played in the backline and delivered a typically enigmatic performance. Alan Toovey improved as the game went on while Tyson Goldsack needs more time in the VFL after suffering from knee tendinitis in the pre-season.

• After the siren: Crunch time after one round?

Essendon

• How the fans saw the Cats-Hawks blockbuster

Gold Coast

State league affiliate: Gold Coast (NEAFL)
This weekend: Practice match, Gold Coast v Brisbane Lions - Saturday March 26, 12pm, Metricon Stadium

Key forward Peter Wright made his case for promotion with an excellent first half in Gold Coast's 92-point win against the Brisbane Lions' reserves.

Wright took several contested marks before trailing off in the second half.
Brandon Matera was among the best players, Jarrod Garlett was exciting and Dan Currie played well in the ruck.

Mackenzie Willis impressed as an inside midfielder. The 20-year-old was drafted at No. 52 last year.

GWS

State league affiliate: Giants (NEAFL)
This weekend: Practice match, Giants v Sydney Swans - Saturday March 26, 9.30am, Blacktown International Sportspark

Key forward Jonathon Patton responded in the best possible way to being left out of the Giants' round one side by booting five goals in the GWS' reserves' final practice match.

Coach Leon Cameron said before his side's clash with Melbourne that Patton needed to build his confidence again after two knee reconstructions and the 2011 No.1 pick took a big step forward against the Swans' reserves.

Midfielder Stephen Coniglio also produced a strong effort, putting his hand up for a senior recall after a slight hamstring setback.

Nick Haynes impressed in his return from groin issues, while academy product Jacob Hopper was also among the Giants' best.

Hawthorn

State league affiliate: Box Hill Hawks (VFL)
This weekend: Practice match, Sandringham v Box Hill - Sunday March 27, 1pm, Trevor Barker Oval

Few Box Hill players performed well in their 147-point loss to Sandringham.

Blake Hardwick was one who impressed. Kaiden Brand won a lot of the ball but he spent time defending Paddy McCartin, who kicked seven goals.

Daniel Howe did not play for the Hawks. He is an emergency for Hawthorn's Easter Monday game against Geelong.

Melbourne

State league affiliate: Casey Scorpions (VFL)
This weekend: Intra-club practice match

Demons youngster Christian Petracca put on a show in the Scorpions' intra-club match at Gosch's Paddock on Friday.

The No.2 pick from the 2014 NAB AFL Draft was the dominant player during the hour-long scratch match, winning a ton of possessions on the wing and through the middle.

His power in the air and ability to break the game open with quick play-ons were on full display, suggesting it won't be long until he's strutting his stuff for the Demons on the MCG.

Angus Brayshaw displayed his class and toughness in the clinches and looks a big chance of reclaiming his spot in the Demons' 22 against Essendon next Saturday after overcoming a knee complaint.

Heritier Lumumba, who had surgery on both of his ankles in the off-season, also threw his name up for selection by winning a stack of the ball in defence.

Luckless forward Jack Trengove got through the game unscathed and appears on track to resurrect his stalled career.

North Melbourne

State league affiliate: Werribee (VFL)
This weekend: No match scheduled

Port Adelaide

State league affiliate: Port Adelaide (SANFL)
This weekend: Norwood v Port Adelaide - Thursday March 24, 7.40pm, Coopers Stadium

Jimmy Toumpas had 25 disposals in Port Adelaide's 25-point loss to Norwood.

Toumpas was traded from Melbourne at the end of last year, after being selected at No.4 in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft.

Aaron Young (26 disposals) and Cam O'Shea (21) were also prominent.

Big man Dougal Howard kicked three goals, including one from the boundary.

Richmond

State league affiliate: Richmond (VFL)
This weekend: Practice match, Richmond v Northern Blues - Thursday March 24, 4pm, Punt Road Oval

Forward Ben Lennon kicked four goals in an excellent performance in Richmond's 56-point loss to the Northern Bullants in its VFL practice match on Thursday.

Lennon, 20, was dropped for the Tigers' elimination final loss to North Melbourne last year and was not selected for the season opener against Carlton.

Troy Chaplin played in the forward line and took some strong marks.

St Kilda

State league affiliate: Sandringham (VFL)
This weekend: Practice match, Sandringham v Box Hill - Sunday March 27, 1pm, Trevor Barker Oval

Paddy McCartin kicked seven goals in Sandringham's 147-point win against Box Hill in their practice match on Sunday.

Darren Minchington collected 44 disposals and three goals, while rookie Josh Saunders had 31.

Jack Sinclair recorded 27 disposals and four goals. Tim Membrey also kicked four goals.

Sydney Swans

State league affiliate: Sydney Swans (NEAFL)
This weekend: Practice match, Giants v Sydney Swans - Saturday March 26, 9.30am, Blacktown International Sportspark

James Rose and Abe Davis both kicked three goals in the Swans' 55-point win against the Greater Western Sydney reserves last Saturday.

Rookie Harry Marsh played well in the midfield and forward line.

Ted Richards and Ben McGlynn both lined up and got through the game without incident.

West Coast

State league affiliate: East Perth (WAFL)
This weekend: Subiaco v East Perth - Friday March 25, 3.10pm, Medibank Stadium

Midfielder Mark Hutchings took another step towards full fitness in East Perth's 31-point loss to Subiaco on Good Friday.

After being left out of the Eagles' final round one squad, the 24-year-old onballer worked his way into the match for the Royals and finished with 23 disposals and eight tackles in an encouraging display after persistent calf issues.

Versatile tall Tom Lamb (one goal), playing on a wing, and rookie Kane Lucas (seven tackles) also gathered 23 touches apiece, while developing full-back Tom Barrass was among the best and had 18 possessions.

Luke Partington, the Eagles' first pick in last year's draft at No.28 overall, and Irish prospect Paddy Brophy both collected 19 disposals in the Royals' second defeat to open the season.

Western Bulldogs

State league affiliate: Footscray (VFL)
This weekend: Practice match, Footscray v Essendon - Saturday March 26, 12pm, Whitten Oval

Former Brisbane Lions captain Jed Adcock gathered 20 touches and booted two goals as Footscray belted Essendon by 53 points in the clubs' final VFL warm-up match.

The 30-year-old rookie was an imposing force in the Dogs' big win, with Declan Hamilton (21 touches), Zaine Cordy (20) and Lin Jong finding plenty of the ball.

Key forward Jack Redpath and Mitch Honeychurch also hit the scoreboard with two majors each.

SUCHisFYFE

Hi all, long time fan first time contributing so thought I'd start off with a recap of the fantasy relevant rookies/rookie priced players that played this round. This is purely my take from watching the game so if you have any views or anything to add I'd love to hear it.

Connor Menadue - A solid 80 points first up thanks to two goals to go along with 13 disposals at a more than respectful 76% efficiency. Personally I dont see him scoring this highly regularly but provided he can continue to hit the score board he should be able to keep his spot and provide excellent bench coverage.

Daniel Rioli
- Only the 39 points from Rioli due mostly to his relatively low time on ground and only 7 disposals. Although he does not seem like the best supercoach choice his pressure and tackling was a highlight and with Deledio and Edwards in doubt and Conca injured he should hold his spot and you could certainly do worse for bench coverage.

Sam Kerridge - The must have Carlton recruit had a great first outing, continuing on his preseason form with 86 points. Kerridge racked up 24 disposals 10 of which were contested. Kerridge was effective in and around the stoppages with 6 clearances and 8 inside 50's. Limited only by his relatively high clanger count Kerridge looks like a solid starter in your forward line.

Jacob Weitering
- Sitting on a meek 18 points at half time things were not looking good. Weitering was less offensive than most coaches were hoping for when they took the punt on him, however as the game progressed and the Carlton defence ran the ball out and linked from defence to their attacking half, Weitering showed real poise under pressure and used the ball very well. This combined with a high amount of marks saw him finish with 87 points and although I would not be expecting that scoring regularly he has solid job security and looks a worthwhile investment.

Clayton Oliver - 75 points and the round 1 rising star nomination from Oliver who burst out of the blocks to finish with 22 disposals from only 58% game time. Oliver had an equal game high 15 contested possessions and 5 centre clearances and helped the Dees gain momentum in the final term. He tired quickly spending large chunks of time on the bench in the third and this may be an issue going forward but early signs are good and provided he holds his spot with Brayshaw and Petracca to return he is a solid M 7-8.

Ben Kennedy - Kennedy was the highest scoring Demon with 115 points against the Giants. Kennedy finished with 21 disposals at 80% efficiency and was helped by three goal assists. A very promising debut for his new club and looks as though he has done enough to hold his spot.

Oscar McDonald - Only the 32 points from McDonald to go along with an ankle injury, there are better options down back for less.

Ryan Davis - 57 points first up from Davis who was decent without being spectacular in his debut for the Suns. His disposal let him down at times and his inaccuracy in front of goal cost him some extra points, however at his price and provided he gets a run, he looms as a decent cash cow for your mid bench.

Callum Ah Chee
- A late inclusion for Kolodjashnij Ah Chee finished with 58 points playing as a small forward. His pressure and tackling was a strength however at nearly 190K and with questionable job security at best there are better forward options.

Darcy Parish - 69 points from 25 possessions and an equal team high 12 of them contested, Parish was a solid contributor for the Bombers and looks likely to play a fair amount of games this season but buyer beware with the heavy losses likely to be suffered the lower to mid tier players will struggle to score highly with the weighting applied to supercoach points.

Mitch Brown
-  A somewhat disappointing start from Brown who only managed 42 points after being resigned to a more key defender role on Sam Day than the more attacking role many coaches were hoping for. There isn't a lot of choice in defensive rookies and as such Brown looks like more than adequate bench coverage.

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti
- Tippa struggled to get into the game going largely unsighted for much of the first quarter, however, he was able to finish with 10 disposals at 80% efficiency for 50 points. I expect this to be around the mark for Tippa and like Brown with options few and far between he is a safe pick for your bench.

(I didnt see North v Adelaide so can't give my take on Milera and McGovern)

George Hewett
- Hewett backed up his NAB form with an impressive 96 points. Hewett played largely forward where his ability to pressure and create turnovers was evident finishing with 7 tackles five inside 50's and a goal. His score was no doubt helped by the Swans' domination and high time in their forward half so don't expect these kind of scores regularly but should he hold his spot for the next couple of weeks he looms as a promising cash cow or possibly a mid starter.

Tom Papley
- Perhaps the biggest surprise of round one in terms of rookies, Papley cracked the ton to finish with 104 points and rewarded coaches that took the punt on him and has those that didn't watching him very closely. Papley didn't rack up possessions but was effective with his 11 and booted 3 goals. Like Hewett, the Swans' dominance no doubt inflated his score but provided he holds his spot he looks a decent pick for your forward bench at the very least.

Callum Mills - I was quite impressed with Mills' debut he collected 18 disposals, was able to run and carry and used the ball fairly well under pressure. His 71 points seemed a little modest to me but there were no doubt greater performers who ate into the points pie. Mills essentially matched Clayton Oliver so the decision to start one over the other so far is a tie.

Marcus Adams - An impressive performance from the mature age recruit who finished with 82 points in the Dogs' dissection of Freo. Adams played as a key defender on Taberner, keeping him to donuts in the first quarter whilst taking intercept marks and linking up from defence. His efficiency of 93% was impressive although he came under little pressure. I dont see the Dogs' defence having such freedom every game, however Adams looks good enough to start if you lack depth in defence otherwise a reliable bench player.

Josh Dunkley
- 61 points was about the benchmark for Dunkley who enjoyed relative freedom in his first game as he collected 15 disposals and finished with a goal. Given the Bulldogs dominance I dont see many changes being made giving Dunkley a chance to cement his spot in a competitive Bulldogs 22 and hopefully make some cash.

Jade Gresham
- After a solid preseason Gresham came into round one looking a solid rookie choice and his return of 44 was a little lackluster especially those (me) who decided to field him ahead of guys like Hewett. Gresham struggled to find the ball largely due to playing deep in the forward pocket but when he did he used it well finishing with 88% efficiency and a goal. Although 44 points isn't great this certainly isn't the time for any drastic calls, give him a week and reassess.

Josh Schache - Perhaps one of the lesser relevant rookies, Schache was decent going up against McGovern finishing with 2 goals and 59 points which is around the mark you'd expect. The key with Schache is he will play plenty of games but at his price there are better options for less.

Lincoln McCarthy - McCarthy finished with 43 points which was no doubt disappointing for owners as he started well showing off his pace and good positioning slotting two goals. He faded out in the second half and was let down by his disposal  going at only 45% with four clangers. Despite this McCarthy showed glimpses and hopefully can string together a more consistent game and clean up his kicking and provide decent bench coverage.

Ringo

Nice summary here and well worth the time to read it all.

really like Schache but his price is the stumbling block.  Gresham and Milera are the 2 rookies that are being watched this week.
