macpherson didn't get named so i teckon he won't go rd1 unless an injury takes place

Ryan Davis named again, this guy is rock bottom price and could start rd 1.

i reckon he will get the promo for senior spot

I currently have Mills, Oliver, Simpkin, Gresham and Polkinghorne as mid rookies, pretty tempting to drop Simpkin for Davis if names round 1.

That's way too much coin to be spent on mid rookies. The rest of your team would be compromised as a result without a doubt.

I think Simpkin will average 70 at best but more likely around the 65 mark so I would turf him for a cheaper guy who is likely to average around the same. I think going with one of Mills or Oliver is fine but both is overkill.

Agree but not if there is a shortage of rookies named -- I think most people at this stage love to allocate cash and adjust later - I am one for this

There are always enough named come round 1 we just don't know who they are yet. I agree that a few expensive rookies here and there is fine but loading up is to the detriment of the rest of one's team.

Would you be so kind as to fill us in on who all these good cheaper mid rookies are then? Because I'd love to know :)

Don't we all. Read my post above yours, I said we don't know who they are yet.

There will be more than enough rookies below the 200k mark named round 1.

Most of our rookies are just placeholders for now but I will not be starting with any more than one 200k+ rookie.

You will if the Gresham menadue Dunkley gore Mathieson Davis types don't m roll up round 1 - I assure you ... I'm not convinced they will either

But hoping hard like you :)

RaisyDaisy

Davis or Marcon for m11 would be delicious

Gresham, Mathieson, Dunkley and Petracca/Polk my current place holders

RaisyDaisy

Grimley

Is it worth starting him at F8 with King at r3 for loophole, or do we just whack Grimley at r3 and be done with it?

I've currently got him at R3 and using Petracca as my loophole for the early rounds. Hopefully after Petracca plays and once someone like Kommer has fattened up, I'll trade him to King and swing Grimley forward giving me forward and ruck cover still.

RaisyDaisy

Got the same setup as you Tom

Grimley at R3 with Petracca at M11 - floating donut opening up dpp to all the mid rookies with dpp

GoLions

Depends who gets named. Would rather spend a bit more cash with Currie at R3 if he's playing, same with guys like Menadue and Milera in the forward line.

King and Grimley for me.

I still want to be able to loophole once Petracca debuts which will be very early on.

If none of those guys get up another approach would be to move Bennedy to the mids and field an extra cheap forward. For what it's worth, I have Menadue, Gresham & Dunkley in there at the moment.

People said exactly the same thing to me last year when I went in with Cripps, Brayshaw and Heeney... At this stage I always lock in the expensive rooks because if anything I can downgrade, then it means I have more cash to play with elsewhere. The opposite is locking in the cheap outside prospects and then having to figure out which prem to downgrade when you need extra cash because half your rooks aren't playing. I'd rather be in a position where I'm happy with my team but if anything changes it will be positive rather than negative ;)

Fair enough. Each to their own :)
