Jones on Petracca (7ish mins)- few weeks behind- hurt himself recently playing basketball and possibly may play a couple of nab challenge.
ill be honest this doesnt fill me with any confidence and have taken him out already. Obviously way too early to call still but dont like his chances.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-02-10/we-try-not-to-dump-blokes-in-tackles-at-training-says-nathan-jones

If he plays nab games then he is ready for round 1. If he doesn't play any nab though he won't get a game round 1

Exactly

Ricochet

Only thing that could happen is he could play limited time in NAB or only one game and not be up to fitness to run out a whole game. No sub changes things a bit

This just put me off Francis a bit. This is from Matthew Egan (Essendons development coach)

“He still has a bit to learn and is still a bit raw in a few areas, which is great for development coaches because you get to track their development really well."

“We’ve pulled back a little on his program, so he’ll be a work in progress just in the early part of the year.

Don't think Francis is a good pick this year, and don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the talent he possesses. Here's my reasoning-

1) He has had a few niggles over the preseason and is behind most of the squad on the fitness stakes

2) He played seniors at SANFL level and only had moderate success

3) His tank needs some major work and he isn't tall enough to get by as a KP player.

He reminds me of Goddard but those who can recall the early days will appreciate Goddard's growing pains, he too didn't have a decent motor. In 2-3 years Francis will be a good pick, not so sure this is the year.

Hard to argue with that and at a pricey 198k it probably rules him out for me.

The part that confuses me is that you can start him in SC but not afl fantasy? Don't get it

FanTC, freako works for champion data so always has the goods and insides scoops

With no trade limits in AFL I assume there's no point in having him sit on the bench till R3 ... however in SC it may be a possibility if we're not confident the very shallow pool staring R1 will even play enough to be worth the downgrade when he's played his 2 games?

Only interpretation I can make :S

This is just my opinion on who are actually in the frame

Solid chances / Possible chances

DEF: Brown (Ess) Brown (WCE) Francis, WhiteX, Dea, Ashby, Hipwood, Otten, Byrne, Wigg, Wagner, Adams, Bonner, Broad, Collins, Hartley, Hibberd, Morgan, Rice, Tucker,

MID: Mills, Hopper, Parish, Gresham, Cunningham, Polkinghorne, M.Kennedy, Trengove (fitness), Fiorini (fitness), Keough, Freeman (fitness), Gore, Jansen, Morabito (Rookie), O"Kearney, Dunkley, Keays, Mathieson, Menegola, Sier, Marcon

FWD: B.Kennedy, Cockatoo, Kerridge, Petracca, Curnow, Ahern, Close, Kommer, Pickett, Sumner, Tipung-Mac

Wells/Simpkin at F5 is a must I reckon, because there isnt going to be a wide selection for forwards I think

I'll be going light down back with EMack at D4 because I think we should have enough options to fill the backline, and the same can be said with the mids - shouldnt be much dramas finding 5 or 6 rookie mids to start depending on what structure you decide to go with

No Ahern in 2016... but increased likelihood for Pickett I'm assuming

That was posted before the news of Ahern came out

Francis hasn't been anywhere near my team. 198K on a rookie defender? No chance

Spend the 40k and get Emack

this is it, I can sit him as M11 in my SC squad if he isnt named round 1 taking the punt he comes in round 2-4  and I save a trade. In AF you should just not start him and bring him in when he plays, getting cash from those who do play.

the best example of this is Tom Rockliff. everyone had him in their squad during the preseason then he wasnt named round 1. most took him out. He played round 3 and then scored 78 96 and went on to average 86 as a forward rookie

was a gun pick to start with in SC even though not named round 1.

Even he if doesnt line up rd1, I'm starting Petracca

He can sit on the bench until he comes in

I wouldnt but i burn trades like mad. Ideally he comes in round 4 and you get 3 prices rises.

for example.

Jansen 120k by round 6 lets say he has gone up to 250k downgrade him to a petrecca. then have 130k in the bank.

can use that to pick up any bolter

Grimley seems like a decent chance for a round 1 gig.  A rookie R/F has major ramifications for team structures.

I just can't justify McKenzie who will score similar to N.Brown from last year. To achieve 75 avg. he will need to be in AA form, can't see it to be honest. His history is 65, not worth it in my opinion. You might want to pay for job security but I'd rather spend some extra and get a guy like Malceski.

Will he play though? McKernan and Daniher will play forward with Leuey in the ruck. Where does Grimley fit in?

Up forward.  At least from passing through BigFooty.  Many unimpressed with how McKernan played up forward last year and plenty of question marks over Leuey's fitness.  Perhaps McKernan stays in the ruck.  His tapwork is rubbish but he goes hard into the pack.

That, or all 3 might play up forward.

Also Hartley in a lot of best 22s as well.
