an interesting observatiuon from Lions Intraclub trial today .

One of the forward lines consisted of Walker, Schache and Hipwood. So Hipwood could be a possibility with Schache an almost certainty.

For those that are looking at Keays I would scratch him as Matthieson played all over him today.  Matthieson is playing to prove he should not have gone where he did in the draft.  (Lions Steal).

Perhaps a touch hasty to rule him (Keays) out after one training session? Mathieson looks a good sort, though will need to perform in the NAB and get named rd1.

not rookies but apparently treloar and howe from coolingwood a good chance to debut rd1 if anyone wants to put them in the tea

My thoughts only MC but have been to a few training sessions and Matthieson is tearing them up more than Keays.  Must admit I was surprised by this as I was all over Keays for the draft,  Hopefully the competition will also see Keays rise to the occasion as well. Also surprised to see Hipwood training forward as well.

Thoughts on Plowman or Ashby being good picks?

I am starting to change my mind and am looking at going cheap down back, simply because I cant see enough "premiums" that i am completely convinced on starting and confident enough they will be keepers

McVeigh (Need to make sure he is healthy as I know his preseason has been poor) as well as Bartel and Smith are the only 3 defenders I am 100% sold on starting. Every other prem gives me at least some doubt, so I am now thinking of going cheap like i did last year

Heater RD ?

RaisyDaisy

Possibly, if McVeigh doesn't look 100%, but otherwise I expect him to drop close to 75-100k at some point. Heater is a gun and I started him last year, but i just don't think he will back up 113 and expect him to average around the 100-105 mark so am happy to get him later

good point RD. but 105 av from a defender is soild in my view. my problem with heater was his attitude. his scoring potential has always been great

Of course it's solid, he will be Top 3 for sure, but 600k is too much to spend on a defender at this stage I think. I think I would prefer to splash my cash on other lines and look to get him later

Is it too risky to have Goldstein/Mckay as my r1/r2? Carlton seem keen on playing him round 1

Yep, way too risky. I highly doubt he will play all the early games as he is still young and learning they will give him breaks I would assume.

Is he the best rookie ruck option?

Him or Currie.
Wouldn't really bother starting either though.

Tom Doedee? He was the shock of the draft, will Adelaide play him early?
