Can any Melbourne supporters give me some insight into Bennedy?

Is he a lock for the 22, or will he make way for Brayshaw, Petracca etc?

I'm a collingwood supporter and i've had him since day 1. As he had limited opportunity at pies i knew he had heaps of potential if he moved and got game time.
As for being in the best 22, i think he easily is.
But its up to roos i guess

Sadly as a  Pie man I wasn't sorry to see him go RD. Unless he seriously ups his playing standard I wouldn't expect him to be a long term pick.  :-\

you would think he gets in to melbournes 22. good player. young and excited. they don't have that many good players. did well in NAB

I've been thinking about this a bit over the past few days and basically, he is far from a lock. The way I see it is without Petracca, he is in the side but is probably the 22nd best player. This is how I see us lining up round 1

Jetta, Dunn, Garland
Salem, McDonald, Lumumba
Vince, Viney, Oliver
vandenBerg, Pedersen, Watts
Garlett, Hogan, Kent
Gawn, Jones, Tyson
Brayshaw, Harmes, Bugg, Kennedy

Obviously this depends on how a few players pull up from the VFL game this week, namely Lumumba, Dunn and Brayshaw who have all suffered injuries in some capacity. Note I have not named Frost in the side, and I am probably in the minority with this view but imo he just doesn't impact the game enough as a forward and Roos doesn't seem to want to play him down back. But if he does play, then Harmes and Kennedy are fighting for 1 spot. Looking at what each provides to the side, they can both run, kick goals and go through the midfield. But Harmes' marking skills probably give him the nod over Kennedy. Throw Petracca in the mix and I think it becomes hard for Kennedy to string games together early

Obviously there's a bit of water to go under the bridge before rd. 1, but these are my thoughts at the moment. Selection committee could have a few headaches come round 1

Pies man too and happy to see him off. Think he may be one of those guys that never lives up to his potential. Was a shocking decision maker and didn't use the ball all too well. He's no where near my team at the moment.

Thanks Mac, and tbh I was thinking the same which is why I asked the question in the first place

Personally, I'm not sure Oliver will just walk straight in and play every week. No doubt he will get his chances, but I can't see him playing every week which is why I have not even considered him once

I feel like Oliver, Bennedy, Harmes and Petracca are fighting for the 22nd and possibly 21st spot which is why I am having 2nd thoughts about Bennedy. I know he has potential and looked good in NAB, but I am not convinced he is a lock

He is value at 187k for sure, but I don't want to outlay that and get stuck with a slow burn

Value wise I want Kennedy, but I am thinking about upgrading him to De Goey or even Steele as a POD breakout contender

@RD u prefer Parish over Oliver then? u starting Parish?

Have not even thought about either of them for a second

Mills is the only expensive rookie I would consider, and am trying my best not to start him too

i have decided to go Bartel to Lonergan to get cash for Brad Crouch @M6 in stead of Parish/Oliver

i like Lonergan + Crouch over Bartel + Parish

piesfan1989

As a pies fan i always felt kennedy lacked opportunity but had potential if used right. He was a ball magnet as a junior (avg 30 posessions a game) but he was always used as thr sub at pies. The only reason ive brought him in is because hes not actually a rookie...given full game time he can be a good player once confidence. Uilds..never really got a good run at thr pies. Having said all that..i dont miss him as a player at colli gwood..just always wanted to see him do well in sc for eome reason!

Mat0369

I guess he had a chance to lock up a spot in the 22 over the NAB. He won't get picked over Jeffy or Kent at the minute, but he is probably worth starting with as he will be easier to downgrade to another rookie then find the cash for him later.

going to laugh so hard when Weitering averages 60 and everyone regrets picking him
Can't see it personally. But let's say he did average 60 and played every week or thereabouts. That's a win in my eyes.
220k for a solid d6 type score for the first half of the year and potential cover for the rest. At 220k I'm picking him with a view of playing every week, maybe trading but maybe not. Nathan Brown was a keeper for me last year for similar numbers and with a much cheaper starting price. Broad and others are cheaper but their JS is debatable and they're not great picks if they only play 3 games.

I think bennedy will see a fair amount of game time, didnt demons give up a decent pick to get him? i may be wrong about that
