You guys think Teddy Richards will stay down forward, or was it just a one off?

Gandalf123

Hopefully a one off, was good comedic value tho

It had its moments didn't it :)

Loved the times he went for the massive punch when he just needed to bring it to ground for the small fowards  ;D

My Chumps

Until Reid or Tippet get back he might be used as a foil a few more times. Aliir won't be dropped considering how well he played and there's not many teams where you can play three key defenders against and not be caught out. Id be tipping him to play a defensive forward role on Gibson next week.

Syd v Hawks - missed the game as was at Rotto (small island, 30min ferry ride across from Perth) for 2nd wk of school holidays here ...

wtf happened? where was it lost?

I've pretty much written off our flag chances (in that I'm not confident on Sydney getting to the GF) with the two losses to Richmond and WBD (not to mention that close call against Brisbane) ... just lack the team/leadership composure in the final 5mins of close games - that's where I reckon the true flag contender teams stand up ...  and then this loss to Hawthorn ...  :P    :-X    :-\

My Chumps

Poor call mate, I'm still confident that we can make the grannie. 4 close losses and one bad one against the Giants. I know it's a concerning trend but gee, we gotta have a bit of faith!

On Thursday we absolutely dominated the first but didn't capitalise on opportunities, got crunched in the second, killed them in the second half of the third and looked on top for large portions of the last. Two goals from very iffy 50 metre penalties, inaccuracy in front of goal and some special football from Burgoyne and Rioli ultimately sank us.

It is a worrying concern losing the close ones (I wonder if the absence of Goodsey's leadership/reliability/calm-headedness has something to do with this?) but once you're in those positions, a lot of it comes down to luck; the bounce of the ball, an iffy call etc. I don't think this is cause for apocalyptic concern, at least we've shown we can match it with the best right down to the wire.

I think the player we have been missing is Sam Reid. Not only would he have touched the ball before going over the gaol line v hawks, he would be very handy on HB or HF atm.

Am worried why Heeney didnt play after being rested 2 weeks ago

Rusty00

Yeah, you guys are definitely not done. Once Tippett is back you'll be a much better team, especially up forward and proved in the earlier game against the Hawks at the MCG that you'll trouble our defence.

Just because you've lost a few close ones doesn't mean the trend will continue. You did dominate Geelong away from home just 2 weeks ago.

I'm not trying to be a downer but being realistic - I agree not apocalyptic concerns but in a pressure-cooker final, i'm just not hot on our ability to withstand it as a team.

teams genuinely contesting for the flag don't lose all 3 of Richmond/WBD/Hawthorn is all i'm saying - get 1 or 2 of those and i'm happy again with faith - all 3 plus only just getting over the line vs Brisbane ...  :-X    :P    ;)

Goodesy shouldn't be an issue - McVeigh is there, Jack (is he still co-capt or in his own right - I forget) as well as Teddy/Grundy down back - then young leaders like Hanners/Parker in addition to Buddy should be able to hold things ...

he looked pretty sore just before the rest ... with Mills/Paps/Hewett/Rose/Rohan etc, etc playing pretty well - no need to rush him back imo but yeah he does give that X-factor up fwd ...

Tippett is a big loss (still can't believe i'm saying that  ;)) ... and not saying we're done like 'stick a fork in us' but i'm just not confident when push comes to shove in a pressure-cooker final - I think it is a trend, especially in the close games this season ...  :-X   :P   ;)

Ugh I do not want Harry Cunningham anywhere near our finals team. Maybe in the future, not now.

Capper

Heeney played in the 2s last week!!! WTF

I don't mind it for this week, and he brings pace, I'm guessing he will be the one that fills the role j mac has been playing? And j Mac has looked very slow the last few weeks, really like all of our ins actually.

what's wrong with Cunners??
I think he has decent skills and a tiny bit of X-factor (not a lot, just a bit) ...

Capper

Wouldnt mind to see BJack get a run in the 2s soon. A good impact player with pace

Totally sloppy. Terrible under pressure, never shows up in the big games. People talk about his pace but he doesn't utilise it or even look very quick out there.

Cal Sinclair out for a month stretching the ruck stocks even more! To be honest he's been fairly awful as of late so I'm not too shattered, but it does highlight the need for Tippett to get back asap. Let's see how the Nank and Naismith do for a few weeks, should be valuable experience
