So before you laugh this is just a bit of a looksy at a team that is heavy on discounted/underperformed players and light on this years rookies. I'm worried that no sub means rookie won't be stringing more that 2-3 games together early on in the season. I think there will be a lot of pain caused by rookies that get one price rise then don't play for a few weeks so picking rookies in the 150k-220k range is going to be super risky.

Shaw, McVeigh, B.Smith, Mackenzie, Mohr, Weitering (Harwood, M.Brown)
Sloane, GAJ, Rocky, Libba, O'Meara, Crouch, Thomas, Polec (Myers, Mills, Hopper)
Leuy, Lycett (Currie)
Zorko, Franklin, Bird, McCartin, Petracca, Menzel (Ah Chee, Cocky)

Cash left ~520K

I didn't use Fan Planner as I think a lot of the discount rates are way out  :P

The extra cash will probably turn Lycett into S.Martin and Bird into which ever Mid gets an undeserved DPP ;D

Agree with you removal of sub could impact number of rookie games.    Top class rookies still likely to get plenty of games but those not at the top are likely to be rotated in and out of teams.     Will make rookie selection challenging.

Also reduction in interchange should see some changes in players approach as well.    endurance is likely to become a bigger factor in the 3rd and 4th quarters.    Not sure how coaches will react?

Hibberd, B.Smith, Malceski, Mackenzie, Otten, Brown (Hibberd, Bonner)

Pendles, GAJ, Sloane, Jelwood, Rocky, Libba, B.Crouch, Gresham (Freeman, Keays, Mathieson)

Goldy, Nicnat (King)

Deledio, Barlow, Franklin, Leuenberger, Wells, Petracca (Kommer, Adams)

Have gone super cheap in defence as I have no trust in the Premiums

The rookies are all fairly cheap which could be a problem, in all honesty I will probably downgrade Jelwood/Sloane and use the cash for a few expensive rookies and strengthen my defence a bit.

I quite like this team Gigantor, well done!

Somewhat agree with your theory on defence however I'd rather a more top end player than Hibbo at D1. Can't fault the logic, if you look at top 10 defenders last year Heater and Hodge are the only ones I would have picked at the beginning as being in that top 10. But I can't see Hibberd improving hugely (he's consistent but not spectacular). Eski and Otten are risky, I'm not ballsy enough to pick them up. Otten at that price could be worth a plug but has had recovery setbacks, Eski a bit up and down, if they return to peak form it's an inspired call but I don't see great signs of that... I'd rather take a punt on someone like Aish than Eski.

I'd actually overlooked MacKenzie so thanks for the reminder!

Overall it's a good setup, the theory is good I just disagree with some of the exact picks :D

Hibberd is interesting.. He will average 80 atleast so you cant't really lose worst you coulf do is break even.
Agree one midfield premo needs to go! I like a lot of others (EVERYONE) like crouch so id go a premo to him.
Use that cash to get Hibbered to so a winner option and sure up them rookies like you said!

Gigantor

I really am hesitant about picking a full premo in defence, finishing in the top 10 the last few years as a defender has pretty much been a death sentence for the next year

There are those guys like McVeigh and Simpson you could probably bank on, but i agree apart from them two!

If I had to pick one I would probably go Shaw, yes he is pricey but even if he drops 10 ppg you still are left with a probable top 2 defender and you only paid 50-60k over for him. The other premos all have a chance of slipping to that sub 90 range which is what has me worried.

Mcveigh and Shaw for me are the only two guys that I am confident in scoring 100+ Mcveigh is cheaper so I would go with him. That's my theory anyways!

Gigantor

I've backed down from having the super strong midfield as the mid rookies are the best chance at generating 200K+ in cash quickly.

I'm calling Shaw, Goldy and Lids as being top 2 in their positions come year end so I'm willing to pay maximum for them!

I don't expect much feedback as there is nothing ground breaking in the below team, I just needed somewhere convenient to store this setup as I quite like it and don't want to forget it after I tear it apart 50 million times between now and rd1 haha

Shaw, Simpson, Yeo, Smith, MacKenzie, Brown(ESS) (Hibberd, Bonner)

Pendles, GAJ, Rocky, Libba, Crouch, Myers, Hopper, Gresham (Mathieson, Schoenfeld Marcon)

Goldy, NicNat (King)

Deledio, Dusty, Barlow, Leuy, Wells, Petracca (Kerridge, Kommer)

Gigantor

Shaw, Yeo, Smith, Hurn, Brown(ESS), Hartley (Adams, Tippa)

I'm seeing no Love for Shaw but I think worst case he drops to 95 ave which cost me 100k but I'm still left with a top 6 player. Best case he maintains his average and I'm laughing :) I think the other potential defenders have more of a downside and less of an upside.
Yeo, Smith and Hurn I think will be solid D4-D6's which leaves me 2 spots to fill with whoever is in the 95-100 bracket for the year.
I think the Essendon back rookies are the way to go now, so I no longer have any interest in mid pricers like Harwood, Aish, Eski and EMac.

Pendles, GAJ, Jelwood, Rocky, Libba, Parish, Hopper, Dunkley (Mathieson, Balic, Hibberd)

First time without Crouch but it allow me to bring in Hurn at D4 so I'm happy with that. DPP links to backs and fwds. Other than that fairly standard

Goldy, NicNat (King)

Set and Forget nothing to see here!

Deledio, Dusty, Barlow, Leuy, Wells, Kennedy (Kerridge, Petracca)

Again fairly standard, except for Deledio who I put in the same boat as Shaw. Bennell too unkown for me, Montagna I don't have a good reason but I will never pick him haha. Zorko, Wingard I don't see improving. Dahlhaus is the only one I would consider.

Byes 6/14/10 But thats with 4 Essendon Rookies so I'm not too worried, Its 5/5/5 with keepers + Luey

fasttrack13

Hurn interesting pick but i like the sense behind it same as yeo.
After further research im tossing up between hurn + Duryea at D3.
This line is perfect i agree i think sure is like gray of last year and those that pick him again WILL be rewarded!

That midfield is fine, there seems to be a growing abundance of rookies through there now with them popping up in preseason.
I have jumped on the sloane ship now after being wary at first so id go selly to him however analysing the draw selwood has:
Hawthorn, GWS, Brisbane and Essendon in the first 4 rounds. Could be blessing or a curse depending on his fitness levels into rd1 as if theres concern he could be rested early!

Forwards are good until i see wells, i honestly cant see him breaking 75 this year... Duggan however will be injected early and is ready made + had secured his spot until he was injured! Im looking at him very closely this year! If wells is fit though then he could be a good pick!

PICCOLLO

plenty to like here. I'm with you on Heater. Defensive players that average well over that 100 mark are gold and worth locking away.  Set and forget rucks, no problem.

Lids is a gun but overpriced and probably not as good value as Dollhouse.

Hurn is good for a 75-80 avg and can hold down a post but is very unlikely to do more than that.

Mids are good.  I'm not getting on Selwood but I can see why you are.

With WCE having tall defenders again, Yeo could be the pick up of the year.

Ringo

Nice Team and well balanced.

Hurn is an interesting one.  What will his role be with return of the Coast talls?  He struggled last year when forawrd tags were applied on him as well.  may pay off.

Lids just concerned about him playing all games now with his hammies. He missed 5 last year and 4 the year before. Something to bear in mind.

Gigantor

Didn't want to clog up the X vs Y thread so I though I would chuck it in here!

A: Shaw, E.Mackenzie (D5) + Cheap mid rookie, Libba M4
(Guaranteed top end defender, Emac solid JS compared to risky back rookies)

vs

B: Hurn, Malceski(D5) + Cheap mid rookie, Libba M4
(High risk/Reward, could be two 90+ keepers, could be two 75-85 disappointments :) )

vs

C: Fyfe + two defence rookies, Rookie at D4, Libba M5
(Potential highest scoring player, back rookies JS??)
